A fun, lightened up recipe of one of my favorite coffee drinks, because it’s not fall without a pumpkin spice latte, y’all!
The other day I was on Instagram and saw one of my friends had posted a picture of the Trader Joe’s pumpkin spice almond beverage. I, being the pumpkin lover that I am, was very intrigued and made a special trip the next day to TJ’s to get some. I am SO glad that I did! This stuff is amazing. It’s made with almond milk, real pumpkin and spices, making it the perfect pumpkin treat. And best of all? You can add it to coffee and have a healthier pumpkin spice latte for a fraction of the cost of one at Starbucks. Win-win!
I know that the almond beverage has sugar and other junk in it, but if you compare that to what you would buy at a chain coffee shop, I feel like it’s still the better choice. Most days I drink black coffee, so I feel like splurging every now and then doesn’t hurt a thing!
The trick to making this latte frothy and creamy was my little AeroLatte milk frother. My brother bought me this a few years ago (back when I added creamer/milk to my coffee all the time), and it’s amazing! It’s easy to use, portable, and works every time. To get the perfect consistency, you just need to warm your milk up (I microwaved my pumpkin spice almond drink for 1 minute) and start frothin’. I like to heat mine up in a pint-sized mason jar, tilt it, and start from the bottom and go up. The farther up you go and the longer you stay there, the more foam you will create. It’s so much fun! The frother also comes with a guide on how to use it, which helped me a ton when I first got it.
Are you a fan of PSLs? Have you ever tried a lightened up version before? Let me know in the comments!

This sounds so yummy and I love that the PSL flavour is with almond milk because I’m trying to cut back on regular dairy these days.

Me too!! I can’t tell you the last time I had real milk, actually haha. However, I don’t think I’ll ever be able to give up cheese and ice cream! Those things are staying with me till the end.

Oh I need a reason to hit Trader Joe’s! Anything to kick up my coffee. I have never heard of coconut sugar either. YUM.

Yes!! You’ll love it. And coconut sugar is amazing!! Tastes a lot like brown sugar, but it’s SO much better for you. You can find it at TJ’s, Target, Sprouts, Kroger and I’ve even seen it at Walmart before.

I’m going to have to try this! I’m not the biggest fan of PSLs at coffee shops, because I’ve always found them to be too sweet. I recently asked for half the flavoring at one coffee shop and that was the best PSL I’ve had! I’ll have to try this out. :)

Girl I couldn’t agree with you more! I got an iced coffee at Starbucks the other day with one pump of pumpkin spice flavoring and it was the best iced coffee I’ve ever had. SO good. And that’s what I love about this recipe- YOU have control over the flavorings. :D

I really love the pumpkin spice “kits” that have been popping up on the shelves lately, because it makes things easier for making recipes at home! I love this!

So true!! My favorite thing in grocery stores right now are their pumpkin displays. Everything I love in one section? Yes please!
