HEY THERE!
Eeek! My favorite time of the year has arrived. If you’re new here, then you may not know this about me, but I L-O-V-E spring! It’s like a breath of fresh air after the long winter months, and I literally get giddy when I see flowers blooming and trees blossoming. Maybe it’s because my birthday is in April and I was made for spring, or maybe it’s jut the photographer in me who loves all the pretty greens. Either way, I come alive once I see the end of winter on the horizon.
One of my favorite parts about the seasons changing is pulling out clothes that I couldn’t wear before. Whether it be boots and leggings the minute fall arrives, or skirts and dresses when the weather warms, I get so excited. But right now we’re in the weird transition phase between winter and spring. It’s cold in the morning, and warm in the afternoon. Some days are toasty and other days I feel like I need to turn on the heat again. Which is when figuring out what to wear becomes tricky.
And today’s your lucky day, because I am here to help! I have shared a bit about why I love having a capsule wardrobe, and these transition outfits are just another reason. I combined some of my favorite winter pieces with spring-ier ones to make outfits I never would have thought of before. And you may notice quite a few pieces repeat, because 1. I like them so much, and 2. It goes to show that you don’t need a ton of articles of clothing to create variety in your wardrobe.
My favorite piece lately? My amazing chambray shirt from August Cloth. Y’all… it’s to die for. Unfortunately it’s sold out (that’s how amazing it is), but if you love modest, cute, affordable clothing then you need to give ’em a follow. Crystal is so good at finding adorable pieces, and so many of them are nursing friendly right now, which this mama is ALL about. *praise hands* So many of my go-to clothes lately have been from AC, and I can’t wait to see more of the spring/summer pieces she’s bringing to the shop.
My two other favorite shops are Little Cottonwood (right now they are in between seasons and don’t have adult clothing for sale) and Carly Jean Los Angeles. Both offer clothes that are nursing friendly, that are high quality for a fairly affordable price. Especially when investing in capsule pieces, I don’t mind paying a little extra (things I learned when I became an “adult” haha!).
I’m excited to really start building my spring/summer capsule, and look forward to sharing more outfits with you here! :)
This is a classic. I rocked it in the fall, winter and now as we enter spring. There’s just something so simple yet cute about pairing a chambray shirt with a pair of skinny jeans, and I’ll take any outfit that makes me feel more put together than I really am! Pair the jeans with some cute booties for a girls day out, or white Converse if you want a more casual look. I also love adding a bandana scarf for some character and color- this one is from Sseko!
I love love love my skirts from Little Cottonwood. I have this style in a few different colors/fabrics because it’s so classic and easy. This is their green corduroy skirt (that I bought for my Christmas outfit), which is a bit on the thicker side, but perfect for winter. Of course I had to pair it with my AC chambray shirt, because I loved how the two colors looked together. The booties from Sseko were the icing on the cake, and I am obsessed with this outfit!
It’s crazy how just switching up your top can create such a different look. This is the same corduroy skirt from Little Cottonwood, but this time I tucked a turtleneck sweater from Carly Jean into the front. It’s a much warmer outfit, but so comfy cozy that you’ll want to wear this every day.
You probably recognize these linen Rory pants from AC by now. They are my favorite ever. Like I wish I could wear them every day without people judging me. They are from the fall collection at August Cloth and have only mediums left, but I couldn’t help but share this adorable outfit with you. I love how the blue chambray looks with the brown pants, and this outfit was so effortless that I’ve worn it quite a few times recently! And I can’t get over how well my Leo hat from Gigi Pip and booties from Sseko look with it. So. Freaking. Cute.
Yes, I wasn’t kidding when I said my go-to clothing piece lately is this chambray shirt. It’s just the right thickness for spring, and I love how I can throw it over a shirt or dress to add a little warmth and layering when it’s cooler outside. This dress is from Little Cottonwood and I l-o-v-e it so much. The fabric is a stretchy, thin material that is perfect for spring. And I am obsessed with the color and pattern! Plus it looks adorable with my Gigi Pip hat. #nuffsaid
This kimono made an appearance in another recent blog post, and I had to share it again. Not only is the color oh so cute (and perfect for fall/spring), but it’s great for layering while transitioning from winter to spring. That, paired with a basic tee from CJLA and my linen pants from August Cloth makes a perfect put-together outfit for the season.
What looks/styles are you wanting to see as we enter warmer weather? Let me know below and I’ll find some fun ways to style them! :)
