For my last Christmas gift idea post this year, I am thrilled to tell you a little about Pura Vida Bracelets. This awesome company stole my heart the minute I read their story, and it didn’t help that I loved everything about their bracelets! Pura Vida Bracelets started when two guys, Griffin and Paul, visited Costa Rica. While traveling the country, they met Jorge and Joaquin, who were bracelet peddlers living in poverty and struggling to get by. The bracelets these two men made were beautiful, and seemed to capture the beauty and essence of Costa Rica. Griffin and Paul were so taken by these bracelets, that they ordered 400 of them to take back home… Little did they know that this would lead to some amazing things!
Griffin and Paul decided to place the bracelets in a bowl at a local boutique, and within days the bracelets were sold out and people were clamoring for more. They soon realized that these bracelets were more than what they originally thought. They were symbols of the simple life Costa Ricans live, and it was a movement that was only just beginning.
“Pura Vida” is Spanish for “pure life”, a Costa Rican philosophy that encourages the appreciation of life’s simple treasures. Slowing things down, celebrating good fortune, and refusing to take anything for granted embodies this laidback lifestyle. “Pura Vida” means choosing to live life to the fullest. It’s more than just a saying… it’s a lifestyle.

Every bracelet sold at Pura Vida is hand crafted by artisans in Costa Rica. Today, Jorge and Joaquin (with over one hundred of their friends and family) hold full time jobs thanks to this amazing company. Before, they would sell a few bracelets a week, but now people all around the world are showing their support for living a “simple life” and the beauty of this amazing story.
Pura Vida Bracelets is also behind an organization called Charity Collection. They have partnered with almost two hundred different charities to give back to causes all around the world. They have donated more than $1 million to date! Among the charities they support is one that falls close to home. A few weeks ago I shared about my dad being diagnosed with Stage 4 Lymphoma (which you can read about here). When you purchase this bracelet, $1 from every purchase will be donated towards LLS, whose mission is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkins Disease and myeloma. My sister and I wore ours the other day in support of our dad! You can check out all of the other charities that are supported by Pura Vida, and find one that you can support.
The bracelets are made of waxed string, and you pull the ends to tighten around your wrist. They are very high quality (in fact, some of the best bracelets of this kind that I’ve seen), and I am all about the different styles they have! Pura Vida is such an amazing company, and I love how they support artisans as well as charities around the world. Their bracelets are awesome, and they are the perfect simple accessory that goes with almost every outfit.
There is so much more to Pura Vida Bracelets, and I encourage you to go check them out! From becoming a rep for the company, or receiving monthly subscription boxes (which would be an awesome Christmas present, if you ask me!), they have it all!
And, as a special gift to my readers, Pura Vida has a special discount code just for you. When you enter HAPPILYTHEHICKS20 at checkout, you will receive 20% off your order. A perfect way to get in some last minute Christmas shopping at a discount!
Keep up to date with Pura Vida on Instagram, where you will be inspired by the bracelets and the stories they hold. Also, I love seeing how everyone styles them differently. Talk about some bracelet inspo!

Giving life what a perfect meaning. These bracelets come in so many colors and are perfect for any age. I could give these to my grandchildren, daughters, friends and would love a set myself. No gender really. I could see guys wearing these.
