HEY THERE!
Well… I am two weeks late posting this monthly update, making this the latest I’ve ever posted one before. These updates get harder and harder each month as most of my free time is spent chasing a rolling, scooting baby around the house, playing with him constantly, and soaking in so much fun and laughter with friends. But I wouldn’t change any of that for the world.
James’s ninth month of life was one for the books. I took SO MANY pictures, and we were so busy, it’s no surprise that it’s taken me this long to get my stuff together to write this post.
When I look back at the month, the thing that sticks out to me the most is how joyful it was. We spent hours hanging out with friends, laughing together and going on adventures. We watched James grow and change every day. I got so many sweet snuggles, baby drool all over my face, and heard the sweetest giggles all day. While we did have our tough moments, this month was the best yet. I absolutely love this age, and getting to see James’s personality shine is a highlight of my day.
There’s no doubt about it… I LOVE being his momma!
We’ve continued our baby led weaning journey and we are still huge fans! James is rocking it, and I can tell every week he gets a little bit better and eats a little bit more. I’m sad for the day we officially wean, but so far we I’m still nursing 4-5 times a day, and I love it. Those little snuggles, smiles and stolen moments with James are my favorite.
Even though he’s not crawling yet, this boy sure can get around! He is an expert roller, has learned how to pivot on his stomach in order to turn, and can (sometimes) scoot his body forward in a sort of army crawl when he feels like it. James is getting on his hands and knees more and more, so I know crawling is just around the corner!
The weather lately has been bea-u-ti-ful. Which means we went on lots of park playdates, hiking on a Saturday morning, and James was my “second shooter” at quite a few photoshoots. Thankfully he LOVES being outside, and soaked in every minute of the fresh air and sunshine.
We went on a trip home to Bonham and I had to take this picture of James and Isaac matching. They are too cute together, y’all. We also snapped some pictures with my sisters in the Indian Paintbrushes!
James celebrated his first Easter with us, and I loved sharing such a special day with him. I pray he someday understands the importance of Easter! This year we gathered together with our church family, then had a little family dinner on the back patio. It was perfect, and the weather was beautiful.
Lillie continues to *not* be a fan of James. Maybe someday they’ll be friends…
This month of his life also brought both mine and Isaac’s birthdays! Look at this sweet card James made for his dada. #melting
Oh did I mention his little personality is THE CUTEST?!
One of my favorite things about April is the annual Arts and Jazz festival in Denton. Isaac and I have gone every year (but one) since we were seniors in high school, so needless to say I was SO excited to share this tradition with James. He had fun hanging out with us, rolling around on the quilt and taking a nice long nap in the wagon. Definitely my favorite jazz fest to date.
I also got to celebrate my very first Mother’s Day this month, and y’all… It was so special!! I’ve dreamt of being a mom since I was a little girl, and getting to play with my firstborn baby before church, talk to Isaac about how amazing it is being parents and think about the impact my own mom has had on my life was priceless.
And as a little special gift to the moms in my birthing center playdate group, I offered to do free Mommy & Me mini sessions for Mother’s Day. What a fun and exhausting morning!! Many of the moms were celebrating their very first mother’s day, and I loved getting to capture this moment in time for them. Especially because I’m a firm believer in taking pictures with your kids (if you can’t tell…) because someday I want them to be able to look back at pictures and see that I was there and present – not just the person behind the camera. One of my sweet playdate friends took mine and James’s pictures… aren’t they adorable?!
My bar studio, as a part of their Mother’s Day celebration, did a Mommy & Me class that James and I got to participate in. I’ve never enjoyed a workout as much as I did that one! I loved working out at the studio when I was pregnant, and it was fun to workout with him again. He was a ham, and definitely loved it too!
This month we also had a visit from our favorite Oregonian Samuels. It was such a fun week with them!! We went to a splash pad for the first time, played at the house, and got to go to Wednesday night church with them just like old times. We loved every minute with them, and it made me even more excited for our upcoming trip to Oregon in June!
We ended James’s ninth month with a photoshoot with our favorite Tricia Marie Photography, and it was so perfect. I can’t wait to share more pictures! :)
And to end this little monthly update, here’s a picture of James nine months in and nine months out. WOW… what a crazy adventure it’s been! And I have to say – the nine months after the birth have definitely gone by faster! My heart has never felt so full before.
