HEY THERE!
I am almost a week late with this update – oops! We’ve had a crazy February, and it’s been hard staying on top of things, but hey. Better late than never, right?
So I have to tell you… Writing these monthly updates is so bittersweet. I know I’ll LOVE looking back at them in the years to come, and I have so much fun remembering all the cute little things James has done over the past month. But at the same time I get so sad knowing my baby is growing up and I’ll never have these moments back. Thank the Lord for cameras and phones, because I am so grateful to have pictures and videos of my baby boy.
I’ve always said I love every stage of babyhood, but the past month has proven to be my absolutely favorite yet. James is sleeping well at night. He’s a pro napper. And his little personality has begun to shine. He is THE sweetest little boy, and brings a smile to my face every single day. He’s a ladies man, momma’s boy and the light of mine and Isaac’s lives. Being parents is hard, but also the best. thing. ever.
Also, how in the world is my baby HALF A YEAR OLD?! I can’t believe that six months ago we were welcoming our sweet baby into the world. And that in six months we will be celebrating his first birthday. Gosh.
Time, slow the heck down!
In January I started training for a half marathon, and James has done most of the training with me! I love love love our Thule jogging stroller (especially now that we don’t have to attach his carseat to it), and James seems to enjoy checking out the scenery as I run.
But lemme tell ya… running with a stroller is a whole new level of resistance training!
Speaking of running, James and I ran our first *official* 5K and James slept through the whole thing.
We surprised Dada at work, and had lunch with him! I don’t know who was more excited… James or Isaac. He LOVES his Daddy.
Did I mention James’s personality is shining? He is so happy (although his serious face is still his favorite to make) and I have been able to catch some of his smiley, giggly moments lately. He also enjoys our weekly playdates with his girlfriends, especially when he gets to pull bows off their heads.
He’s also been nicknamed the “Baby Bachelor” by my group of mom friends, and he milked it this Valentine’s Day!
This month we started slowly introducing solid foods. We’re going to do a baby led weaning program with James, and right now our goal is to just introduce him to different foods and textures. So far he loves sweet potato fries and hates scrambled eggs! Also, Lillie is a fan of him eating food. ;)
Still no teeth yet, but he chews on e-very-thing. His toys. Our hands. His toes. His fingers. And really anything else he can get his hands on!
Mr. James is rolling over both ways like a champ. Occasionally at night he’ll roll over to his belly, and after a few rough nights of teaching him how to sleep like that, he now sleeps on both his back and tummy. Although his favorite way is still on his back with both hands behind his head. Such a cutie!!
Wanna know what melts my heart into a little puddle? When James gives me kisses on the cheek. Y’all. It’s so precious! Sometimes he’ll even grab both sides of my head and bring me towards him as he “kisses” my chin.
James is soooo close to sitting on his own! He just needs to work on his core strength to prevent all the wobbling. But when he sits with something supporting his sides, he does so good.
For his 6 month “gift” (which was really just an excuse to get him something) I bought the Cuddle + Kind stuffed animal named Elliot. And when I realized James and Elliot had the same color shorts, I couldn’t resist taking some pictures of them matching!
Our big boy is almost able to hold his bottle all on his own, and I’m still not ready to accept the fact that he’s getting so big! Oh and he’s obsessed with my coffee mugs, and grabs for them every time I take a drink. I have to be extra careful to not spill any on him nowadays haha!
He’s still such a sweet snuggler, and I LOVE it. #cuethehearteyes
Have I mentioned that he moves ALL THE TIME?! Always wiggling, kicking, playing and moving. He has so much energy!
This month James has started recognizing the phone and will stop whatever he was doing to turn and smile at it when I put it on selfie mode. What a ham!
And would I even be considered a good mom if I didn’t match my baby all the time? ;)
This month was incredible, and I can’t wait to see how much my baby grows and learns the next six months. <3 Here’s to half a year with us, little man!
