HEY THERE!
One of my new year’s resolutions was to try a different type of food every month this year. So far, Isaac and I have done a really good job about sticking to that resolution! We have tried Indian, Thai, Hawaiian, Romanian and Salvadorean, and I’ve enjoyed every single place. It has been a lot of fun eating foods from different cultures, and finding some amazing restaurants in our neighborhood. Today we realized that August was almost over and he hadn’t gone anywhere new. So, thanks to trusty Yelp, we decided to get some Mediterranean food.
Hala Cafe recently opened in Euless, and I’m so glad we decided to go there. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but from the minute I walked in to the restaurant I was blown away. The restaurant was clean and I loved the modern chairs and tables they had. The dining room was bright and welcoming, and the staff was polite. We met the manager, who checked in on us to see how our food was and to thank us for coming to the restaurant. We also enjoyed looking at all the pictures on the wall of monuments from Mediterranean countries. The ambiance was perfect for a relaxing Sunday lunch.
As for the food, I thoroughly enjoyed our meal! We weren’t too hungry when we arrived, so Isaac and I decided to split a meal. I’m glad we did, because we got SO MUCH food. We ordered the hummus as an appetizer, which came with pita bread to dip in it. Guys… It was the best hummus I’ve ever had! I loved the texture of the chickpeas, and the spices in it were delicious.
For our entree we decided on the chicken shawarma, which came with rice and two sides. We ordered baba ganoush (roasted eggplant with olive oil and tahini) and grape leaf rolls (filled with rice mixed with vinegar and lemon juice). The chicken was amazing, and it went SO well with the baba ganoush, which was my favorite thing we ordered. The roasted taste of the eggplant was delicious, and it was unlike anything I’ve ever tried before. However, we weren’t fans of the grape leaf rolls, mostly because it had too much of a pickled, vinegary taste to it. Other than that, I loved every bit of our meal, and left with a very happy belly.
I give Hala Cafe two thumbs up! It was clean, professional and the food was delicious. I can’t wait to go back and try their beef shawarma, gyros and sandwiches. This restaurant has definitely made it onto my favorites list, and if you live in the Euless area, you need to try it out! If you’re looking for authentic Mediterranean food, this is the place to go.
