HEY THERE!
Well this was supposed to be a 36 week bumpdate, but here we are at 38+3, so I’m just rolling with it. I’m in the weird twilight zone of pregnancy where time seems to be dragging and flying by at the same time. It’s truly hard to believe that we could have a baby in our arms practically any day now! But in all honestly, I’m hoping the baby stays in for at least another week… I’m still in the middle of washing clothes, organizing everything and getting the house set up for a baby. Plus I need to decorate the nursery which is a top priority. ;) I’ve been able to gather some things together, but now it’s all just sitting in there till the energy comes to tackle that room. We’ll see if that ever happens!
But on the bright side, all my birth supplies is here and ready to go, and I get a little anxiously excited every time I see it. I’m always so curious to see how my births will go, especially since they’ve varied so much with each kid. I guess we’ll find out sooner rather than later!
This past month has definitely been difficult. Even though we’ve had beautiful weather and *overall* I’m feeling pretty good, I have been feeling very drained and exhausted almost every day. It’s like my pregnancy is finally catching up to me, and that on top of the insomnia has not been a good mix. I have so many things I want to do around the house and with the kids, but I’ve had to really cut back and take things slow. And if you know me, you know that is not my normal speed! However, it does explain why I feel so unprepared for the baby, and I’m praying this week I can get my stuff together so I can truly relax for a bit before we add a new little one to the family.
My biggest prayer, though, is that we can avoid any more sickness in the next couple of weeks. We’re all currently struggling through a cold (thankfully it’s not flu/rsv/covid) and I really don’t want to welcome the baby to a house full of germs. That’s not too much to ask for, is it?
How far along?
I’m 38 weeks and 3 days today.
How big is the baby?
The baby is about 18-19 inches long, the size of Stanley the Sloth (the picture was taken at 37 weeks)
Must-have items
Just the usual stuff… Earthley Good Night Lotion, Wish Garden Sleepy Nights tincture and my Wildbird pregnancy pillow. Plus epson salt baths, Liquid IV and aaaaall the snacks.
Cravings
Goodness my sweet tooth has been in overdrive lately. Hopefully I can tame it a bit, because I know mama and baby don’t need all those sweets.
Symptoms
The insomnia is come and go (thankfully the past few nights have been a lot better, especially since I’m currently fighting a cold), and my biggest complaint right now is just feeling HEAVY. It’s hard to stand for long periods of time because my low back really starts to hurt. But really I’m mostly just tired and easily fatigued.
Exercise
With the baby lower, bigger and heavier, my SPD pain is more easily triggered, so I haven’t been able to exercise like I wanted. I’m trying to stay “active” with the kids, and we’ve been taking advantage of going to the park a lot with this beautiful weather. I’m also doing more stretches and spinning babies moves in the evenings to help with soreness, and to get the baby in optimal position for labor/delivery!
High moment of the month
I just think it’s been SO sweet talking to the kids about the baby coming soon. June and James are very excited, and we’re all looking forward to finding out if it’s a girl or a boy. I’ve been spending more time at home (it takes way too much energy right now to leave the house), so we’ve enjoyed a slower pace of life and I’ve been soaking in this time with my favorite kiddos.
Now we’re officially on baby watch, and I can’t wait to hold this sweet little one in my arms oh so soon.
