HEY THERE!
This was the last bumpdate I wrote for both James and June (who were born a day before and the day of their due dates), and I can’t help but wonder if this pregnancy is going to be the same. Time will tell, I guess! But also… Wow. It’s so crazy to think that I could have a baby in less than a month. I know these next few weeks are probably going to drag, but I’m hoping all the baby projects (like the ENTIRE nursery) keep me busy so it doesn’t seem so long.
It’s definitely been a hot summer so far, and I’m excited to almost officially be on maternity leave. Just two mini sessions and a newborn session are left on my calendar! I shot an outdoor wedding this past Sunday (during a heat advisory and 100+ temps), and now that it’s over, I feel like I can make it to the finish line. I was so scared of how my body was going to do, but I felt great the entire time, and enjoyed a couple of days after without any kids to recover, relax and rehydrate.
The kids are getting more and more excited about the baby. James was sad that I didn’t have the baby this weekend while they were gone, and June keeps giving my belly hugs and kisses. They have been playing “baby” more and more, and love seeing all the things we have slowly been collecting for when Baby H is here. Multiple times a day James tells me my “belly is getting soooo tall”, which I’ll take over “big” any day. And it makes me laugh every time. Also he continues to tell me that the baby is a boy, which is think is adorable.
As I enter the final stretch of this pregnancy, I’ve been feeling it more and more. Even though most of the time I feel great, I have had more moments of round ligament pain, MANY sleepless nights (thanks insomnia, restless legs and Braxton Hicks), am moving slower and slower, and get so emotional thinking about this new life that’s about to join our family. While I’m not totally pumped for the sleeplessness that is to come, I am excited to find out what this baby is, all those sweet snuggles, seeing June and James with their baby sibling and to have a couple of months to just be “mom”.
Here’s to seeing if the next update is a bumpdate or baby announcement – eek!!
How far along?
36 weeks and 3 days
How big is the baby?
The baby is about the size of a honeydew melon. But feels much bigger lol
Must-have items
Not much has changed… Epson salt baths, NORA tea, compression socks, pregnancy pillow and magnesium!
Cravings
Mostly just cold, sweet stuff. Thankfully smoothies help satisfy that craving right now! And frosted coffee from CFA. YUMMMM.
Symptoms
Still feeling great overall! I am really really struggling with sleep, which has taken a toll on me. Most nights I wake up around 4 and cannot go back to sleep. Thankfully Isaac’s work schedule allows me to get a good nap in during the afternoons so I’m not too sleep deprived and miserable. I’ve had more round ligament pain (but still nothing crazy), fatigue, body soreness and moodiness too. My patience is not the best right now – sorry kids!
Exercise
While my intentional workouts are not that great, I still have stayed pretty active so far. Between going to the library, park and splash pad, chores around the house, chasing after two kids and still doing photoshoots, I’ve stayed busy. I’m trying to continue to go to Bar Method twice a week, and am doing a little better about walks with the kids.
High moment of the month
Our annual besties beach trip over Memorial Day weekend! This year we went to Galveston, and it was seriously SO much fun. We all had a blast, and it was wonderful having a long weekend to unwind, not work and spend time with some of our very best friends. Plus it was our first road trip in our minivan, and lemme tell ya… It felt absolutely luxurious.
I also had my baby shower this month, and it was such a special afternoon celebrating this sweet little sunshine baby. I have the best friends and family!
