HEY THERE!
Helloooo week 36!
There was a moment there I thought you’d never come because 36 weeks seemed SO far away. But now here we are, just a mere FOUR weeks from the due date, melting in the horrendous Texas summer heat, and getting the nursery all set up for our little man’s arrival. I thought time would slow down once I was finished with teaching and photography, but it’s done nothing of the sort. Between all the projects I’ve been doing around the house (keep up with those on my Instagram stories! It’s a lot of fun haha) and getting things done that I’ve been putting off for the past six months (like updating the pictures on my photography website!), I’ve definitely stayed busy. I can hardly believe July is almost over and soon it will be baby month!! Ahh! We’re so close!
How far along?
36 weeks today!
How big is James?
James is about 19 inches tall, the size of a ripe papaya, and weighs about six pounds. We had an ultrasound done on Monday to determine his position and he’s head down (hallelujah!) and measuring right on track with where he should be!
Must-have items
I have been doing a lot of work in our garage lately, which means I’ve also been having to spray myself down to avoid those pesky mosquito bites. They love me, y’all! I’ve been trying out some different deet free, all natural bug sprays this summer, and this one is my favorite. I found it at HEB on our way to family vacation, and instantly fell in love. It smells AMAZING (my sister in law says it smells like marshmallows), and works way better that other sprays like it. Thankfully it’s also sold on Amazon, so I can get more when I run out!
Cravings
So I think my obsession with peanut butter can now be considered a craving. Y’all… it’s bad. I have it about twice a day either on a piece of toasted Ezekiel bread, with some apples and bananas or even my pancakes in lieu of butter. I could eat it all day, err day. I don’t know what that means for baby, but hopefully I’m preventing him from having a peanut butter allergy once he’s born. ; )
Symptoms
I can tell he’s moving a little farther down (he’s up in my lung area a lot less), but he’s still hanging high for now. I have more pelvic discomfort, and more Braxton-Hicks contractions especially now that I’m drinking the raspberry leaf tea my midwifes gave me. It’s harder to get out of bed, I dread having to get out of a car (they are SO low to the ground!) and his movements are getting stronger and stronger. I have started to be able to distinguish between his bottom, foot, hand or elbow by the location and size of the little body party pushing against me and it’s fun to play around with him and push back. He’s also started pushing against my hand if it’s resting on my belly, and he’s not a fan of being my coffee shelf in the morning when I’m reading my Bible. One day he almost made me spill my coffee he kicked so hard! Thankfully I was able to grab my mug before I got a nice coffee bath first thing in the morning.
Exercise
It’s getting harder and harder to workout, as the third trimester fatigue has really come full force. I’ve also had some killer back pain in my middle back so I’ve been taking it easier and doing more walking so I don’t injure myself even further. Thankfully after getting adjusted again yesterday the back pain is SO much better (after 10 straight days of horrible pain, I almost forgot what it feels like to NOT hurt!) and I feel like myself again. Hopefully I can get back to regularly going to Bar Method (I’ve missed it so much!) and sticking to walking about a mile or so a day before it gets too hot outside.
High moment of the week
I think my favorite moment from this week was celebrating mine and Isaac’s three year anniversary on Wednesday. It’s our last one before kids, and so it was extra special to me. We’ve been together for almost eight years, and it’s just been the two of us. Soon we’ll have a little guy joining in on our team and I am so very excited. Even though I’ll miss the simplicity of no kids, I cannot WAIT to tackle parenthood with my best friend by my side.
Now it’s your turn to talk! Answer one of these questions in the comments below:
How do you combat the insane summer heat?
Have you ever given natural bug repellent a try? Which is your favorite?
