HEY THERE!
This is always the time in my pregnancy when I am shocked that there are less than 2 months left till the baby is here! Realizing I *hopefully* have only one more bumpdate to write blows my mind (so far I’ve had babies close enough to my due date that the 40 week one has never happened). With the cold weather officially here, I’ve been trying to find fun and creative ways to keep busy with the kids while impatiently waiting for the baby to be born. This is always my least favorite time of the year, and being in the last stage of pregnancy will make it much more difficult, I’m sure.
Overall though, things are going well. I’m definitely feeling more pregnant as the baby moves all the time, I’m struggling to get out of bed, I get breathless with simple tasks, and the belly is more in the way. But besides that I’ve truly been enjoying this season of life. Work has slowed down a LOT and I’m focusing on savoring these last few weeks of growing a baby. I really do love being pregnant, which is probably a big reason why I am still not ready to say we’re done adding to the family!
How far along?
I’m 33 weeks today.
How big is the baby?
The baby is about 17 inches long, the size of Junie’s little guitar.
Must-have items
At this moment, it’s my chiro (Uprise Chiropractic) and pelvic floor PT (Peak RX). I’m also loving my Earthley Good Night Lotion, Wish Garden Sleepy Nights tincture and Wildbird pregnancy pillow. I’m hoping to reduce the insomnia this third trimester, so I can get as much rest as possible before the baby is born. Oh and I’m taking regular epsom salt baths, which are wonderful for swelling, restless legs and my SPD pain.
Cravings
I don’t think it’s a pregnancy craving… It’s more of a “it’s cold outside and I want comfort food” craving, but I am wanting all the fresh sourdough bread, soups and warm foods lately. Yum yum yum!
Symptoms
I am so thankful that my SPD pain is under control! There are still days where I struggle, but overall I feel so much better and more like me. Praise the Lord! Besides the end of pregnancy aches and pains, overall I’m feeling great!
Exercise
Now that I have my pain more under control, I hope to begin incorporating some short workouts to my routine again. I tested out a few moves at PT yesterday and I am SO SORE now. Hopefully over the next few weeks I can build up some muscle strength again!
High moment of the month
Last week we went in for an ultrasound to check on my placenta. At the 20 week anatomy scan they realized that my placenta was slightly over my cervix (placenta previa) but we weren’t super concerned, since its placement would most likely change as the uterus continued to grow. Thankfully that’s exactly what happened, and it’s moved far enough away from the cervix for me to be cleared for a home birth! I cried tears of joy, partly because we didn’t have to change birth plans, but also because it was such a relief to know we didn’t have to worry about all the health complications that come from a full placenta previa. The Lord has been so gracious to us in this season of life!
Also we took our own maternity pictures last week, and I shared some of my favorites below. I love my sweet family SO much!!
Now it’s time to hunker down, rest and soak in these cold winter months with my family.
