HEY THERE!
My oh my what a crazy season of life! Even though I decided to cut back my photoshoots this fall season, I feel like I haven’t stopped to take a breather since the beginning of October. Between reschedules due to bad weather, homeschooling, Isaac having a heavy workload and me being pregnant, I’m entering my third trimester very exhausted. Even though it’s been a very busy season, I also feel so full and thankful for all the amazing people I’ve gotten to work with. I absolutely love my job! However, I did totally miss my 24 week bumpdate thanks to all the craziness. Whoops…
Overall I still feel pretty good! The baby moves all the time, and both the big kids have gotten to feel them move, which is so special and sweet. They are excited about their little baby, and talk about it all the time. I’m sleeping so much better (even though I’m up late almost every night trying to get work done), but I can definitely feel the third trimester exhausting rearing its sleepy head.
However, around 24 weeks I shot a wedding and ended up with excruciating pain that was preventing me from walking normally even around the house. We found out that it was due to SPD (symphysis pubis dysfunction), also known as pelvic girdle pain, where the ligaments between your pelvic bones relax too much and cause pain in the pelvic area, as well as down your legs or even into your abdomen and back. After realizing what was causing the pain, I was able to get adjusted (which helped tremendously) and then began going to physical therapy. Between those two things and being very intentional about my movements, I’ve been able to greatly reduce my pain and discover what triggers to avoid.
Sadly, at this moment, that means not going on walks or working out (I miss Bar Method so much!), and I have to avoid movements that separate my legs too wide or standing for too long. Photoshoots are major triggers, but knowing I’m almost done and on maternity leave is giving me the push I need to get through the end of busy season.
So here’s to the beginning of the third trimester, enjoying some holiday festivities with my crew, and soaking in these last few months as a family of five.
How far along?
I’m 28 weeks and 4 days
How big is the baby?
The baby is about 15 inches long, the size of my Dahlia hat from Gigi Pip ;)
Must-have items
At this moment, it’s my chiro (Uprise Chiropractic) and pelvic floor PT (Peak RX).
Cravings
Still no cravings!
Symptoms
As mentioned above, the SPD has given me a run for my money, but I am so thankful that I’ve figured out how to get things under control. Besides that, I’m feeling pretty great!
Exercise
Well that’s been pretty nonexistent lately, but I’ve been trying to stick to my PT exercises, and photoshoots always keep me active! I hope to eventually be able to go on little walks again, because I truly miss them.
High moment of the month
I’ve actually been loving homeschool lately! It’s been great from the get-go, but this month is especially fun since we’re doing a great Christmas curriculum, and the kids are having a blast. It’s been amazing watching them soak in everything, memorize scripture, and learn about God’s plan of sending Jesus into the world.
It’s such a gift to teach my children!
