HEY THERE!
Hello third trimester!
For a second it felt like this moment would never come (especially in the throws of feeling so awful during the first trimester), but here we are… in the homeward stretch. As the weather begins to warm, all the excitement and emotions associated with this time of year have come flooding back. This is my third summer baby, and I always get so emotional remembering the anticipation of awaiting a new little baby, and the beauty of their births. I’m getting more and more excited about this sweet little baby, and can’t wait to meet them. Not knowing the gender this time has added an extra level of emotion, as I dream about the sweet life we get to welcome in a few short months.
As my hormones skyrocket (see previous paragraph for evidence), my pregnancy symptoms have slowly increased as well. While overall I still feel great, I’m walking slower, have a little waddle sometimes (especially when I need to use the restroom – iykyk), and more and more Braxton Hicks. But thankfully other than that, this second half of the pregnancy has been so smooth, and I’m grateful.
I can tell the baby is getting bigger by the day, because the little kicks have turned into body rolls and full on belly movements, and body parts are much easier to feel. Even though this is my third baby, growing a little life inside of me is still equal parts amazing and a little creepy. ;)
James and June continue to be obsessed with their little sibling, and sing to my belly daily. They smother it with hugs and kisses, and James talks about the baby all the time. He loves seeing the little things I’ve made for it, and finds all kinds of things at the store that the baby needs. It’s seriously so precious! June has no idea what’s in store for her, but I know she’s going to be the best big sister. She loves all the babies we see, and has been practicing a lot with her dolls. I know the transition will be tough, but I also know it will be SO sweet.
I snapped this picture at a photoshoot the other day because WOW. I feel like all of the sudden the bump has just grownnn! Lordy I hope It doesn’t continue at this rate for the next 12 weeks lol.
How far along?
29 weeks and 2 days (a little late with the update this month!)
How big is the baby?
The baby is about the size of a butternut squash or eggplant
Must-have items
I’ve been drinking this probiotic drink that is SO yummy mixed with a squeezed lemon. I’ve been wearing compression socks more often as the heat and pregnancy has caused my feet to sweet a little by the end of the day. I’ve also been taking epson salt baths to help with muscle aches/soreness, and started going to the chiropractor twice a week.
Cravings
The kids and I have been on a yogurt kick lately, and have been eating it daily for breakfast for weeks. June and I split a container of flavored yogurt mixed with plain Greek yogurt and top it with granola, chia seeds and a banana. It’s SO yummy and also kinda weird because I’ve never eaten this much yogurt in my life haha! My sweet tooth is back in full force, and I’ve been trying to not go crazy, but that’s nothing new.
Symptoms
Like I mentioned above, I still feel good! No awful pains or complaints. I just move a little slower and have to stop and catch my breath sometimes. The baby is still super active, and I love feeling them move around my belly (even at 2am when I wish I was sleeping). I’m napping daily, but the kids and I have found our groove and I’ve been able to balance work and mom/wife life fairly well. We’ll see how things change when the kids’ school closes for the summer! Eek.
Exercise
I’ve been going to The Bar Method about 1-2 times a week, depending on my schedule and how I’m feeling. The same for walking. But hey – it’s better than nothing, right? Plus I feel like going out with the kids should count as a workout, and photoshoots keep me moving a few times a week as well!
High moment of the month
Definitely Easter weekend! We got to get together with my extended family for the first time in FIVE years. I loved seeing all my cousins again, and it was the first time most of them met the kids!
I also found out my brother and sister in law are having a baby GIRL in August, and I am just sooooo excited for more cousins to join the fam.
