HEY THERE!
Hey, hey, hey! As I blow the dust off this little blog of mine, I’m comin’ atcha with some exciting news! In case you missed it, on Christmas Eve we announced I’m pregnant with our third little love.
We were surprised by this baby, and it’s taken me a long time to come to terms with it. I definitely wanted another kid, but both other kiddos were planned, so I was mentally prepared for them, and Isaac and I were on board with having a baby. This time around I had a lot of guilt associated with the pregnancy, and have been much more worried about finances (like having to get a new car to fit everyone). Thankfully it’s gotten better over time, and Isaac has been absolutely incredible through all of this. After telling him I was pregnant and just saying “I’m sorry” over and over again, he kept telling me “this is amazing” and how excited he was.
Y’all. I don’t deserve him!
And now that we’re through the first trimester, I’m finally feeling a little more human. I had an extremely busy fall photography season on top of not feeling well with pregnancy sickness and struggling with lingering fatigue from having the big C only three weeks before getting pregnant. So needless to say, I am so thankful that season of life is behind me, and I pray I continue to feel better as we move forward. I’m still struggling with fatigue, but it’s slowly getting better… I think.
I will say though, time seems to be flying by with this third baby. Keeping busy with photography and sewing, as well as chasing two littles around sure helps time pass by fast. I know I’ll blink and next thing I know I’ll be holding a little baby in my arms.
And, as I’ve done with my other pregnancies, I’ll be keeping track of everything with monthly “bumpdates”. I love looking back at the other ones I did and comparing the pregnancies. :)
How far along?
16 weeks tomorrow!
How big is the baby?
The baby is the size of an avocado (7 inches long)
Must-have items
Maternity everything (pretty much)! The bump has definitely popped sooner with this pregnancy, and lots of my old clothes just don’t fit comfortably anymore. I bought some workout leggings from Gap when I was pregnant with James and MAN they are the best. I also live in these sleep nursing bras from Target because they are the most comfortable thing to wear when I’m feeling sore.I’m still sleeping with my pregnancy pillow, which hasn’t left the bed since my pregnancy with June – hehe. I’m also still taking my Thorne prenatal vitamins!
Cravings
Ooof. No real cravings (besides all things carbs), but I’ve had SOOO many food aversions this time around. I don’t know if it’s a combo of having C- before getting pregnant or what, but it was really bad during the first trimester. I can barely eat pizza, which was my go-to food with my other two pregnancies, still struggle with eating meat, and can’t cook with garlic. Peanut butter has a weird taste, and I wasn’t able to even think about coffee until a few weeks ago. Now that I’m feeling a lot better, I’ve been trying to add more veggies and fruits into my diet, but it’s still a struggle some days.
Symptoms
I’ve had extreme fatigue (I’m talking needing 1-2 hour naps every. single. day), awful awful acid reflux and heartburn, and really struggled with food up until recently. My round ligaments get mad at me if I roll over too fast in bed, and I had some bad lower back pain at the beginning of the pregnancy. But *thankfully* these symptoms all seem to be getting a little better. I’ve been taking Slippery Elm and Gastrex when I get bad heartburn and indigestion (usually at least once a day still), have been seeing a chiropractor for the back stuff, and am trying to drink more water to help with some of the ligament pain. Isn’t pregnancy lovely? lol
Exercise
I’ve definitely struggled with exercising lately. I’ve only been able to go to the Bar Method about once a week due to Isaac’s work schedule, and have had absolutely no motivation to go on walks with the weather being so *cold*. My goal is to start being more active again so I can stay healthy and hopefully avoid excess weight gain.
High moment of the month
I think I’ve been feeling the baby move around lately (or maybe it’s gas – who knows?) and it’s so special. June’s started noticing my baby bump and will wave at it and say “hiiiiii” and give it a big kiss. Melts my heart every time! James is so excited about another baby, and talks about it all the time. He’s the best big brother, and loves babies so much. I can’t wait for this summer to get here! I’ll just be a puddle of emotions watching my big kids with their baby sibling.
Oh and this post wouldn’t be complete without some bloopers from the pregnancy announcement! You’re welcome.
