HEY THERE!
I feel like I was just writing my first bumpdate and pregnancy announcement, but lo and behold three weeks have already flown by! It is SO true when they say the second (and I’m assuming subsequent) pregnancies seem to go by faster. When I’m not playing with and chasing around James, I’m usually either taking a nap or busy working on my side businesses. I really can’t complain though! I love that for the most part I’ve been able to enjoy this pregnancy, and I hope the rest of the wait goes by fast so we can meet our new little one oh so soon.
This month has brought lots of changes to me physically! I am officially “bumpin” and it’s so weird to me to see a baby bump so soon. But I know you tend to show sooner with each pregnancy, and I’m definitely embracing my “new” body, and love when I catch a glimpse of it in the mirror or when I look down at James. I’ve also broken out the maternity leggings because, I have to admit, they are so stinkin’ comfortable. I’ve also had lots of aches and cramps as my body has begun all the stretching and loosening I’ll experience the next six months. But the best part of all these changes is the fact that I have been able to feel the little baby moving inside me. I swear those thumps, flutters and wiggles NEVER get old! I’m still in awe that I get to give life to another tiny soul, and am so thankful that the Lord has given us this gift.
I can’t wait for our anatomy scan that’s coming up in a few weeks! In my next bumpdate I’ll get to share some of the pictures from the ultrasound and I can’t wait. It’s going to be pretty much the only time we’ll get to see the baby before it’s born, so it’s even more special! And yes, we’ll be announcing the gender soon after that. Eeek!!
How far along?
16 weeks tomorrow!
How big is the baby?
The baby is the size of a hacky sack – about 4.6 inches and 3.5 ounces.
Must-have items
My maternity leggings! I bought some workout leggings from Gap when I was pregnant with James and MAN they are the best. I also live in these sleep nursing bras from Target because they are the most comfortable thing to wear when I’m feeling sore. I’ve given up sleeping without my go-to pregnancy pillow (sorry Isaac), and it’s definitely helped me sleep better at night. Oh and I’m loving my Thorne prenatal vitamins!
Cravings
When I was pregnant with James I craved oranges. Never in my life have I ever really like oranges, yet here I am, craving oranges again! My sweet tooth has also been off the charts, and I’ve been doing my best to not give in. But let’s be real… I don’t have THAT much willpower haha!
Symptoms
As mentioned above, I have been experiencing a lot more discomfort as my body’s begun to grow. Lots of round ligament pain and
cramping (especially when I turn over in the middle of the night), and if I don’t go to the bathroom often, it irritates my uterus and starts to put a lot of pressure and pain in that area. Pregnancy is lovely, isn’t it? Thankfully going to my chiropractor has helped with a lot of these aches and pains, and I am so thankful to have such an amazing chiro helping me be in tip top shape this pregnancy. I’m also still struggling with fatigue, and pray some of that glorious second trimester energy hits soon. A girl can hope, right?
Exercise
I’m sticking to around 4 days a week at The Bar Method, and have begun walking a couple times a week when the weather is nice.
High moment of the week
For sure getting to feel all the little baby movements! James has also been especially snuggly lately, so I’ve absolutely loved getting to hold and love on my sweet big boy. I don’t know if it’s just the stage he’s in or if he realizes something’s different, but I have loved how much he loves sitting in my lap, giving me hugs, and giggling with me. Being his mama is my favorite thing in the world, and I’m SO excited to have two littles making my life extra sweet.
