I'm Becca - mom to four cute kiddos, professional photographer, chocolate addict, in love with all thing wildflowers, and (most importantly) a sinner saved by grace through faith!
HEY THERE!
Back in 2018 I began a little series on my photography blog titled “The Story of Us”. I went back to the beginning of mine and Isaac’s relationship and told the story of how we met and how our lives unfolded from there. It was so fun and I truly enjoyed looking back at all those memories… until I forgot to finish the story. Oops. So by popular demand from only one of my friends (I’m looking at you, Laura), I decided it’s finally time to share what happened next.

As I began writing, I realized there was just so much to unpack, so I hope you’re ready for a few more installations of The Story of Us.
(Read Part 1, Part 2, Part 3 and Part 4 to see how we got here)
As Isaac drove home, Becca’s heart was still pounding and she had butterflies in her stomach.
I have a boyfriend.
That’s all she could think as she walked back into her house. Her parents didn’t say much, but they gave each other knowing looks when they saw her smile as she walked through the door. That high school love is something they remembered all too well.
As Isaac jammed to a Skillet song on PowerFM while driving home, he grinned. He had done it. He talked to her parents. She said yes. And life just couldn’t get any better. He still couldn’t believe that a girl like Becca would like him, and man he must be the luckiest guy alive.
As was necessary for any relationship back then, Isaac and Becca became FBO (Facebook Official) that evening, and it was the talk of the youth group the next morning at church. But Becca didn’t care. She was just so excited and, as her favorite song at the time said, “[He’s] got my heart tied in a knot
And my stomach in a whirl”. Nothing could bring her down.
But little did she know, that giddiness was not going to last forever.
A week into their relationship, rumors began flying.
Isaac’s ex girlfriend found out that he was dating Becca and she was mad. Before Isaac and Becca’s friendship had even started, Becca and his ex had hung out a few times due to a mutual friend. They had talked about life, boys and had some good laughs together. And because of that the ex felt betrayed. She had confided in Becca about her relationship problems. And even claimed that Becca had convinced her to break up with Isaac just so she could go out with him instead.
Becca was crushed.
This was exactly what she had been wanting to avoid. She hated drama, and especially hated that she had been painted in such a negative light.
That afternoon she called Isaac crying. “Your ex said some really hurtful things!” As she told him everything that was spreading around school, Isaac felt like he had been punched in the stomach. He hated knowing that he had caused Becca to be so hurt and sad. And he was mad at his ex for what she had said.
“Becca. It’s okay! You know those rumors aren’t true. My ex is just mad and hurt. It will die down soon.”
And even though his words held so much truth, Becca still didn’t know what to do. Was it worth staying with him? Should she date someone when it’s causing someone else to feel hurt? Did she like Isaac enough to push through the rumors and trust that everything was going to be okay?
Find out what Becca decides in Part 6, coming soon.
