HEY THERE!
In August my sweet boy turned one year old. To celebrate, we decided to throw a Texas birthday party for our little Texas baby.
It was SO much fun planning and getting everything together for his party! I tried to keep things simple, but stick to the theme as much as possible. I didn’t want it to be “country” looking, but rather a clean cut and classic Texas birthday party. And I loved how it turned out so much I just HAD to share it with y’all. #yourewelcome
Our sweet friend Emily (yes, the same one from MartinezMade.co) made his cake based off the Texas I have hung above his crib. It turned out SO perfect! For James’s smash cake I had her make a blueberry cake because he is kindly referred to as “The Blueberry Monster” in our house. Needless to say, James was a fan, and both cakes were SO good.
We had his party at 10AM so I made breakfast food for the guests! It was a hit, and I knew James would love it because breakfast is his favorite meal of the day. We had quiche (from Costco), fruit, pancake “muffins”, snap peas (James’s favorite snack) and chips with homemade salsa (Isaac’s specialty). It was simple, easy to prep, and plenty of food for all our guests! For drinks we served Dr. Pepper (of course), sweet tea, cold brew coffee and Capri Sun for the kids.
We had a tight budget for the party so I tried to be as frugal as possible…
I used a bunch of the decorations we have in his nursery on the wall behind the food table. I also grabbed all his Texas books and set them up around the house for extra decor – it was a fun touch! I bought some cheap “fiesta” banners, red white and blue balloons, a big giant “1” balloon and a helium tank from Walmart. For some more color I got sunflowers and baby’s breath at Costco that I set all around the house in mason jars.
And my most “creative” decoration was the dictionary cards I had in all the vases around the house. I took some common Texan phrases and put their definition below. It was so fun to make them and super cheap too. #winwin Some words and phrases included Fixin’ To, Dr. Pepper, Howdy and Shindig.
And there you have it! A simple, easy Texas birthday party for my favorite one year old. :)
