HEY THERE!
This time of year is hands down my favorite. I loathe the cold weather, so the minute it starts to warm up, I do a little happy dance. We’ve gotten so lucky this year here in North Texas and have actually had a spring, which I have been soaking in for sure! We don’t always have pretty weather, but when we do, it’s cause for celebration.
One of my favorite things to do when the weather is this lovely is to simply get out and enjoy it. Whether it be going to a park with James and my playdate friends, spending the morning on our back patio, or doing something adventurous like going to a tulip farm, I’m all in. This spring has been particularly special to me, because I have my little nugget to share it with. I always dreamt of going to a tulip farm and taking pictures with my kids someday, so this year when the opportunity to go to Poston Gardens with one of my sweet friends arose, I didn’t think twice.
Poston Gardens is a tulip farm in Waxahachie that has stolen my heart. Not only is it absolutely gorgeous, with row after row of vibrant, beautiful tulips, but there’s a purpose behind the farm.
Just down the road from the tulips is a facility called Daymark Living. It was created by John Poston who desired to create a community where “adults with intellectual and developmental delays could live among peers, learn life and vocational skill, integrate into a community and pursue a life of independence and happiness.” One of John’s sons has Down Syndrome, and he wanted to create a place where his son could thrive, which is how the vision for Daymark Living was born. A portion of the profits from Poston Gardens goes towards Daymark to help improve the lives of the adults who live there. How awesome is that?!

And my favorite part about the tulip farm? Residents from Daymark Living work there, so you can actually meet the people you are impacting! Every visit and every tulip helps change the lives of these adults, and I absolutely love that.
The farm opened on March 15th and is closing on April 12th due to the high temperatures we’ve had and inclement weather on the horizon. I know that doesn’t give you much time to visit, but they are having a flash sale right now, so head over to their website to read more about it!
If you can’t make it this year, make sure to visit Poston Gardens next year to enjoy the beautiful tulips and help contribute to Daymark Living. And take pictures. Lots of pictures! :)
