HEY THERE!
I know it’s the end of June, but I would be remiss if I didn’t take a moment to share this year’s Me Made May. This was my third year to participate and it was one of my favorites yet. Over the past five years of sewing I have slowly been adding handmade things to my wardrobe. From shirts to pants and dresses to workout clothes, about 90% of my closet now comprises of things I’ve made.
This year I decided to be intentional about wearing clothes I don’t normally wear on a regular basis. Turns out I found a new love for “dressing up”. I felt more confident, was more productive and had fun challenging myself to get out of my comfort zone. I also wore a lot of athletic clothes since I have been walking and working out more lately. Making my own athleisure wear has been SO fun. And maaaaybe a little cheaper?
Some of these pieces are ones I have worn in previous Me Made May posts, but that just goes to show that they are truly keepers, and obviously well worn!
I of course had to start this Me Made May blog post with my first piece of crocheted clothing! I can’t tell you how much I love this vest and those cute little floral motifs on the back. It took me about a week to make it (working on it quite consistently), and the kids enjoyed seeing it come together with each passing day. They truly are the cutest little cheerleaders.
Pattern: Sunnyside Vest from Evelyn and Peter
Yarn: Lion Brand Cotton Bamboo Linen in Shale (vest crochet kit)
I made this skirt years ago but haven’t worn it in forever. I forgot how much I loved the twirl factor, and how cute it is with a touch of denim! Plus those pockets can hold so many snacks (priorities, am I right?). I paired it with a Lulu tank top which you’ll see repeated a lot this month!

Top Pattern: Lulu Tank from Made for Mermaids // Fabric: Excel ATY nylon from Surge Fabric Shop
I made this dress for my newborn session with Ellie, and never really wore it again. It was too big and I felt frumpy in it. So this year I decided to add some bias tape channels to the sides and thread elastic through them to cinch up the sides. That little modification changed everything and now I wear this dress all the time. It’s SO comfy and perfect for summer!
Pattern: (modified) Jazz Dress from Ready to Sew
Fabric: Cotton gauze from Joann’s
This has been my go to lounging outfit lately. It’s seriously SO comfy. I made it for Christmas “pajamas” and now I just wear them all the time.
Pants Pattern: Restore Pants from Greenstyle // Fabric: Bamboo/Organic Cotton Blend Jersey in Basil from Isee Fabric
Top Pattern: (slightly modified) Adult Boxy Tee from Lowland Kids // Fabric: Bamboo/Organic Cotton Blend Jersey in Basil from Isee Fabric
This is the epitome of a summer dress. The gingham, the ties, the tiered skirt and the cute tank top cut is just perfection. I love all of Syd Graham’s patterns, and this dress is yet another to swoon over.

Fabric: Felicity Plaid Blue on Kona Cotton from Carriage House Printery
This romper is a new item I made during May, and it was instantly a hit. I love how flowy it is, and how perfect it is for the summer. With the spaghetti straps, inset pockets and elastic at the top, what’s not to love? I also like how it helps me feel put together without having to even try.
Pattern: Humla Romper from Paradise Patterns
Fabric: Linen + Cotton Blend in Tumbleweed from Isee Fabric
This year I decided to opt for a more functional swimsuit with plenty of coverage. I absolutely LOVE how this came together. The skort is lightweight, flowy and oh so comfortable. The top has lots of structure and coverage. And it was perfect for playing soccer on the beach, chasing kids in the waves and lounging in the shade. 10/10
Top Pattern: Lulu Tank from Made for Mermaids // Fabric: Ribbed Swim from
Skort Pattern: Rally Skirt from Greenstyle // Fabric: Black Swim from Greenstyle
This top was another variation of this year’s swimsuit look. It’s very comfortable, but I think I prefer the fit of the previous swimsuit. Once again I paired it with my swim skort. I seriously LOVE it.

Skort Pattern: Rally Skirt from Greenstyle // Fabric: Black Swim from Greenstyle
I channeled my inner Chessy (iykyk) and was thrilled with how this outfit came together. I love me some comfy linen pants, and Isaac’s button up made the perfect oversized shirt to pair with it.
Top Pattern: Lulu Tank from Made for Mermaids // Fabric: Excel ATY nylon from Surge Fabric Shop
Pants Pattern: Pomona Pants from Anna Allen Clothing // Fabric: European Linen from Isee Fabric
I made this dress for family photos last fall and am still digging the whole fit. It started out as the Iris Dress from Fibr and Cloth, but I wasn’t happy with how it ended up fitting. So I literally took it off and began cutting. The end result is this super fun button down dress with puffy sleeves. I know I’ll never be able to recreate this dress but man am I happy with how it turned out!
Fabric: Forest Forage Daisies from Sewdona Fabrics // Slub Linen in Oat from Isee Fabric
These overalls continue to be a favorite of mine! I made them when I was pregnant with Ellie, and they are perfect for looking cute without having to try too hard. This time I paired it with a store bought t-shirt, but this is also super cute with a tank or even a sweater in the fall!
Overalls Pattern: Greer Jumpsuit by Hey June Handmade
Fabric: Essex Linen from Hawthorne Fabrics
One of my favorite things to wear lately is matching sets, and this one is one of my most used ones! Fun fact: I actually cut the fabric for the skort last summer but never ended up making it. So this May I decided it was time, and now I’m kicking myself for waiting so long!
Top Pattern: Lulu Tank from Made for Mermaids
Skort Pattern: Rally Skirt from Greenstyle
Fabric: Excel ATY nylon from Surge Fabric Shop
After sewing this dress I realized I don’t think I’ve ever actually made myself a short dress before. My go to is always a long, tiered skirt, so this was definitely out of my comfort zone. But I absolutely love it, and now I want to make more! Plus those dramatic sleeves are to DIE for, y’all.
Dress Pattern: Butterfly Dress from Karmme Apparel
Fabric: Denim from Joann’s // Vintage tablecloth
I love this outfit for lounging around the house or even for going to the park or on a walk with the kids. The shirt is the perfect amount of oversized, and the shorts are SO comfortable. They have an inner liner so I never have to worry about chafing, and I love the built in pocket for carrying my phone.

Shorts Pattern: 3R Shorts from Greenstyle // Fabric: Excel ATY nylon from Surge Fabric Shop / Sage Brushed Athletic Poly Spandex from Surge Fabric Shop
I never thought I’d be an “athletic dress” kinda girl, but now here I am making myself one. I really liked how quickly this pattern came together (quick sews are very satisfying) and it’s hubby approved. I’ve worn it a ton already this summer, and have plans to make more!
Dress Pattern: Lille Racerback Dress from Greenstyle

This has become one of my go to outfits. In fact, I’m wearing it right now! I absolutely LOVE the fit of the longline banded Lulu Tank, and how cute it looks paired with the flowy shorts.

I decided to dress like a 90s mom over Memorial Day Weekend. This was the most comfy outfit to travel in, and I just love that you can be modest, cute and functional at the same time.

In May my baby sister got married! I had the privilege of shooting her wedding, so I opted for a dress that was easy to move in, cute and good for working in the heat. Plus it coordinated well with her wedding colors, so that’s a win in my book!
Dress Pattern: Cannes from Little Lizard King // Butterfly Sleeves from the Ashton Sleeve Expansion Pack from Helen’s Closet
Fabric: Linen but I can’t find where I got it from. Oops.
This May actually brought a few days of chilly weather, which meant I got to wear one of my favorite combos from the winter months. This sweater was an instant hit this year, and I love how it pairs with this semi fitted maxi dress. Such a great outfit for feeling cute and comfy at the same time.
Sweater Pattern: Collier Cardigan from Petite Stichery // Fabric: French Terry from Carriage House Printery / Cotton French Terry from Millie and Dot
Dress Pattern: Venlo from Styla // Fabric: Bamboo/Organic Cotton Blend Jersey in Mocha from Isee Fabric
When Junie had her first ballet performance, I knew this dress would be the perfect choice! While I don’t have a good picture of it, I promise it’s *chef’s kiss*. Between the ruched bodice and long, flowy skirt, it’s the perfect fancy but not too fancy dress.
Dress Pattern: Sofia Dress from Victory Patterns
Fabric: Lil Daisy in Cornflower in Rayon Challis from Carriage House Printery
The end of the month brought wildflower mini sessions, and this outfit was perfect for them! While yes, it was boiling hot in those jeans, they are definitely necessary for all the bug, branches and weeds I’m walking through. This top is one of my favorites! I hacked the original pattern and made it sleeveless, which is (in my opinion) a necessity in Texas summers, and to have a deeper slit for breastfeeding ease last year.
Top Pattern: (modified) March Top from Helen’s Closet
Fabric: European Linen from Isee Fabric
For the last day of Me Made May I wore this super cute linen outfit. These two patterns have been staples in my closet for the past couple of years (if you can’t tell from this post) and go together oh so well.
Top Pattern: Ashton Top from Helen’s Closet
Shorts Pattern: Pomona Shorts from Anna Allen Clothing
