HEY THERE!
Happy Friday! It’s time for my Friday Faves, and this week I’m sharing some of my favorite kitchen utensils.

When I got married and moved in to our apartment, I was ecstatic, because I knew I would have so many opportunities to cook. There is something therapeutic about it, and I love being able to cook for Isaac. On Sunday afternoons I meal prep for the week, and (almost) every evening I make us dinner. It is so much fun, and I really enjoy coming up with fun recipes in the kitchen. Over the past year I have found some of my favorite and most used kitchen utensils that make cooking and prepping food a breeze.
What are your favorite kitchen utensils? Tell me in the comments below!
Joseph Joseph Kitchen Utensil Set– I own the spoon and spatula, and they are amazing! I love that there are little stands attached to the handle, which means you can set the utensil down without making the counter dirty. Plus they are heat resistant, so you don’t have to worry about melting the plastic! I LOVE these, and the set is on my wish list, for sure.
Collapsible Colander– This is such a space saver, and it’s so easy to use! I love that the handles pop out to prop up on the sink, and you can collapse it to fit easily in the dishwasher. I don’t think I could ever go back to a normal colander after using this one.
Oxo Heat Resistant Spatula– This bad boy is heat resistant up to 600F, and I use it almost every day. It’s perfect for scrambling eggs or stirring sauce, and I don’t have to worry about using it on a non stick pan. The plastic is soft, but durable, and it does great in the dish washer.
Swivel Peeler– I have used quite a few peelers, and I’ve found that the best ones are the ones that swivel. They move along the outside of the fruit or vegetable you are peeling, resulting in a more even peel and less stress on your end. I don’t like peeling, but this peeler makes it much less horrible of an experience!
Herb Scissors– I bought these last month and I love them! They make cutting up herbs a breeze, and now I can use fresh herbs in my recipes much easier than I could before. They are sharp, easy to use and exactly what I thought they would be. I highly recommend!
Silicone Baking Cups– One of my go-to recipes for breakfasts are muffins. There are so many different types of muffins you can make (like my Blueberry Zucchini Muffins), but they make a mess in a muffin pan. After scrubbing countless pans, and even throwing one away, I finally decided it was time for some baking cups. Instead of using the paper ones (which I hate), I decided to try out some silicone ones and I am so glad I did! They work perfectly, my muffins slide out without any problems, and they are easy to clean. You won’t regret buying these!
Meat Chopper– This is one of Isaac’s favorite kitchen utensils, because it makes cooking ground meat super easy. It breaks up the meat and helps cook it more evenly. It also helps mix up meats without having to get your hands dirty by chopping them up together (which we do a lot when we make recipes using half ground turkey and half ground beef).
Kitchen Aid Hand Mixer– I have always wanted a standing Kitchen Aid mixer, but we can’t afford one right now. So for the meantime I bought this yellow hand mixer and I love it! It’s perfect for my current needs, and it fits in my limited kitchen storage. You can’t go wrong with a Kitchen Aid mixer.
Cast Iron Skillet– This is definitely the most used skillet in our kitchen. It is so versatile, and we have cooked everything in it, from eggs and spaghetti sauce to taco meat and shrimp. It is easy to clean, and adds a great flavor to the food we make. My goal is to someday use only cast iron skillets and pots, but I know that won’t be for a while!
I could add so many more, but I’m going to keep it to these. Maybe in the future I’ll do a Friday Faves Kitchen Utensils 2.0. What do you think?

I definitely need one of those collapsable colanders, but mostly because I have a small kitchen and they’d be great for saving space! I love my potato masher because I use it to mash hard boiled eggs or avocado!
I need to get a potato masher! I’ve never thought of using it on eggs or avocados before… that’s so smart!
That colander is such a good idea! Somehow I have two and they take up a lot of cabinet space!
They really do, don’t they!? The collapsible one is AMAZING!
I love how colorful everything is! I’ve been meaning to get some silicone baking cups, but I told myself I can’t until I get rid of allllllll the paper ones I’ve accumulated over the years. I need to make more muffins is the end story of that! I have a “Mix ‘n Chop” from Pampered Chef (I sell it—woohoo!), that does the same thing as your meat chopper, and it’s hands-down, my absolute favorite gadget in the kitchen!
GET THEM! So worth it, I promise. And the Mix ‘n Chop sounds right up my husband’s alley! Maybe when we move into a house I’ll have to look into it. Thanks for sharing :)
Love this! I love my kitchen utensils..I love the colors of these though!
Me too!! I’m all about bright, fun colors in the kitchen. :)
This is great I love cooking and all things related. The herb scissors look great. I need to order silicone cases! Happy weekend
The herb scissors are so awesome! I use fresh herbs so much more now, because of them. And YES! The muffin cups are the bomb.
I need a peeler and iron skillet so bad! Love how colorful everything is. :)
So do I! I’m all about bright, fun colors in the kitchen :) It’s my happy place.
Love the herb scissors. I must thank the brilliant person who invented those. Also really love the idea of a collapsible colander. Those things take up so much space in a kitchen cabinet. Great list!
I agree!! The herb scissors are genius. And the colander is SO great and such an awesome space saver. Thanks for stopping by Lecy!
YAY! I’m so glad I found your blog!! I love reading people’s recommendations for household things – making a list of these things! I have been wanting a cast-iron skillet so I’ll check this one out! At some point I will need a new peeler & spatula, I’m sure, so I will keep these in mind, too – thanks a bunch for sharing!!
I’m so glad you stopped by Rachel!! You need to get a cast iron skillet. We use ours ALL the time. So glad you like the blog :)
