HEY THERE!
I am in utter denial that in two short months Junie turns a year old. Where did my teeny little baby go? And why oh why do the days need to fly by this fast? On one hand I feel like there’s no way she is almost 1, but on the other I feel like she’s been a part of our family forever. She has changed it for the better, fills our house with giggles and toothy grins, and radiates joy! I love seeing her personality develop, even though that means she now has more opinions and has figured out she can cry when things don’t go her way. Every day is an adventure with her, and I love it so much!
This month James, June and I took advantage of the warmer weather and got out of the house a lot! I love going on walks, playing at the park, and soaking in the fresh air with the kids. I am sooo ready for June to walk, though, because it makes playing at the park so much easier!
As June has gotten older, she and James have been playing more and more together! I’ve caught them in James’s room playing, “talking” to each other and reading books together. It melts me every time! Even though James has really been struggling with sharing his toys with her (especially when she destroys the perfect line of cars he just set up, or his train tracks), we’ve been working on it, and hopefully it starts to get better soon.
We went home to Bonham three weeks in a row this month and goodness it was a beating! A lot of driving, sleeping in different houses, and being out of normal routine, but the kids did amazing. It was so good seeing our family, and I loved seeing the kiddos have fun with their grandparents, aunts and uncles and my grandma!
One week we went home for Rachel’s bridal shower and to have dinner with my aunt and uncle who were in town for the festivities!
Another week was to drop the kids off so Isaac and I could go to the BBQ Fest in Tyler for Isaac’s birthday. And the following week was for Mother’s Day!
While we were all dressed up for the bridal shower, my sisters, June and I took pictures in the bluebonnets. It was fun adding her into our “sister poses”!
My grandma, II Mama, finally got to meet June in person and hold her! I teared up seeing them together… It’s been a long time without being able to see my grandma for an extended period of time or give her a hug.
June has been getting more and more brave with standing up and balancing. She’s been able to balance for around 4-5 seconds at a time, and I know it’s only a matter of time before she takes off running! She refuses to sit still in one place, and has been nicknamed “squirmy”. Sister just wants to explore and get into trouble!
We went through a really rough week or so of sleep with June. The only way I could get her to sleep was rocking till she passed out. While it was very frustrating at times, I also soaked in those snuggles. And took pictures, of course!
Her hair is getting longer and longer and I was able to put it in the cutest, teeniest little ponytail. It was so cute, and I was surprised at how different she looks with her hair pulled back like that!
We went on our first family run since June was born and it was so much fun! I’ve really missed running with Isaac, and even though it was 1000x harder than I ever remember it being, I am so glad we did it.
This month held Mother’s Day! I spend the actual day at two photoshoots, but the day before we had a blast going to the Vintage Market Days with my mom, then at the farm with both of our families playing corn hole and hanging out. It was the perfect day!
Oh, did I mention June has developed quite the personality? While that has meant lots of giggles and smiles, it’s also meant lots of crocodile tears when things don’t go her way… Like getting in “trouble” for biting and twisting while nursing, or having the remote taken away. Basically, I’m the worst mom.
I love June’s little voice, and hearing her “talk” to us. She is so much more verbal and expressive than James ever was, and I love it! These are her thoughts about taco night…
We ended the month with a little photoshoot with my playdate friends for Mother’s Day! This is our third year to do it and I am so glad we were all able to get together to take them. <3
And the best part of this month was welcoming our sweet baby cousin, Norah, to the family!! I can’t wait to see them grow up together.
All in all, this month went by in a blur! I’m definitely going to soak in these next two months with Junie before I feel like I can no longer call her my little baby.
