HEY THERE!
With just two days to spare, it’s finally time for June’s 5 month update! This month she celebrated her first Thanksgiving, went on a road trip to visit all her aunts and uncles on my side in Aransas Pass, visited Hicksville for the first time, and had lots of exciting holiday adventures. What a fun (and quite a bit crazy) month. :)
This was the first full month that we cloth diapered, and I have never once questioned or doubted our decision to switch. I know it’s not for everyone, but we have found it to be so easy, and there have been absolutely no poop explosions out of her diapers (which we were experiencing with pretty much every poop when using disposable diapers). I love her big booty, and I especially love how much money we’re saving by doing cloth!
June has been growing and developing like crazy, and I’m in denial that my little 8lb newborn baby is getting so big. She is really starting to roll over, play with her feet (which is the cutest thing!!), has started giving “kisses”, and loves talking to big brother. She is still so smiley, and lights up the room with her big eyes and gummy grin.
This month held a lot of first for her. It was her first Thanksgiving, which also means her first Campbell Family Turkey Trot. Due to COVID we ended up making our normal annual run into a trail run at my in law’s property, and it was a blast. Junie drove around in the golf cart with me, James and my sister Roxi taking pictures and cheering on the runners.
Instead of going to the hill country like we normally do after Thanksgiving, my family drove down to Aransas Pass to spend the weekend together with my brother and his wife (who was 38 weeks pregnant at the time!). We spend the weekend laughing, playing cards, watching movies, and just enjoying our time together. It was such a needed time away from “life”, and it’s always such a crazy time when my family gets together!
Thanksgiving weekend also means family pictures with both sides of the families, so we had lots of pictures taken! I loved not only taking the pictures, but also making outfits for James, June and myself.
This month also kicked off a lot of Christmas festivities! We had so much fun with my family decorating the Christmas tree (it’s tradition to wear ugly sweaters as we do it), and then donned our PJs a few days later to decorate our own tree. I loved watching June look at the the lights, touch the ornaments and smile at everyone. I know she won’t remember these moments, but I cherish the memories we made as a family.
We also had TWO Christmas PJ “parties” with friends. It was so much fun, and I loved getting to make my kiddos their pajamas this year. :)
One of my favorite little adventures we went on was to downtown Grapevine with our besties, the Samuels. It was such a beautiful day and we enjoyed watching the kids run around, dance to the music and play together.
June started sleeping SO much better this month! She still has short naps, but night has given us some longer stretches and I am thoroughly enjoying it. Most naps and bedtimes she can put herself to sleep all on her own, and I am SO proud of her. Thanksgiving weekend was hard (so much traveling is not easy on babies!) but thank the Lord things have been steadily improving.
All in all this month was one to remember, and I loved getting to see June’s personality shine. She still adores her brother, loves milkies, grins from ear to ear when Dada comes home, babbles all the time, and brings so much joy to our little home. We love you, June Bug.
