And just like that we have an eight (and a half) month old. Next month feels SO crazy because it means she has been out of my belly longer than she was in it. It still amazes me how much faster time goes when you’re not sitting around waiting and waiting on a baby to be born! This month was crazy busy and full of huge milestones for Junie girl. While sleep has been a rouuuuggghhh spot for her, she is still such a sweet, smiley baby you’d never know.
I know I’m biased, but she is the cutest little baby, y’all. I am obsessed with her piercing blue eyes, gummy grin and chunky monkey rolls. I just wanna squeeze her every minute of the day – If you’re a mom, I know you can relate ;)
June Elizabeth | Eight Month Update
One of the big moments for Junie was she finally started crawling! And #shocker the first real crawl was to grab a cheddar bunny. Homegirl has some thighs to chunk up! It took her a while to really start getting places, but now she’s an expert and is all over the place. I can’t tell you how many times a day I have to throw off whatever I’m working on to save her from immediate peril. She is so much more mischievous than James was, so she’s giving me a run for my money!
And of course, once you learn how to crawl you might as well pull up too! Less than a week after she mastered crawling, June began pulling up on anything and everything, climbing over our legs, and basically just finding more ways to cause chaos. ;)
This month James and June had their first bath together! It’s a little scary between the splashing and the toys and June wobbling, but they love it so much, and I like that it means only filling the tub once!
June has continued to be my little Threaded Bee model, and my goodness – isn’t she the sweetest?
Most days napping is great, and she normally has two 1.5-2 hour naps, but then there are days when she needs her mama to rock her to sleep. Usually it’s the days that are the busiest, and I know it’s because she just wants to be held and loved for a little bit. Nighttime sleep is another thing. She has yet to go a night without waking up, and there have been mannnyyy nights with 3 (or more) wake ups. I’m praying this season passes soon, because mama is TIRED!
We also went on a fun trip to the zoo with some friends! The weather was perfect and it was so fun watching James in such awe at all the animals. June was pretty indifferent and just along for the ride, but someday she’ll come to appreciate it more!
With Easter around the corner, bunny bonnets are in a constant rotation over here, and I’m not upset about it. There’s not much more adorable than a little baby with floppy bunny ears!
This month we also visited my brother, sister in law and their son for a long weekend! It was a blast, and I loved getting to catch up with them, let the babies play together, relax at the beach and (James’s favorite part) ride the ferry to the island. Have I mentioned how much I loveeeee that they are back in Texas??
June is a daddy’s girl, and it makes my heart melt every time I see them together. She grins SO BIG when she sees him, and loves climbing all over him, pulling at his beard, and getting him to play with her. In these pictures, you can see her reaction when Dada walked behind me. Pure love!
Most days were spent at home, with the kiddos playing together while I worked. I hate that this season of life is calling for so much work and less time to just be “mommy” but I know it won’t be like this forever! So I try to take time every day to put aside work and just spend it with the kids, whether that be playing at the park, building a fort in the living room, reading books and going to the library, or cooking dinner together.
