HEY THERE!
As the days get longer and hotter, memories from that last month of pregnancy last year have come flooding back. All the days filled with excitement and anticipation as we awaited the birth of our sweet baby girl. The days spent snuggling James and watching Disney movies. The days where my body got more and more tired and sore as it prepared for labor and delivery. The days I washed and folded her clothes, worked in her nursery and did my last few photoshoots before maternity. And the days where every twinge, cramp and weird feeling made me wonder if labor was imminent.
Now I sit here, watching June crawl around the room, dancing to music with James, stealing his toys and grinning her big gummy smile. What a year it’s been, and I cannot believe her birthday is almost here. I have no idea where the last 11 months went, but in less than a month we have a one year old and I’m so emotional about it! While I LOVE seeing her grow and figure out the world, I also miss those sweet newborn days where she couldn’t get into trouble and I didn’t spend half the day chasing after her.
Junie girl is so sweet, goofy, headstrong, active and a mess. She babbles, giggles, squeals, whines, screams, claps, hugs, furniture surfs, walks with a walker, tickles, and loves with her whole heart. I love my little June Bug so much, and can’t wait to see her continue to grow into the crazy little toddler she’s becoming.
It’s officially summer! After a few weeks of cold, rainy, gross weather we have lots of sunshine and he temps are soaring. We have had so much fun this month playing in the water to stay cool, especially since we have a season pass to a local waterpark! Junie and James both LOVE the water, and it’s been a blast watching them play (and – of course – making their swimsuits!).
Junie is soooo smiley and sweet! While we do have moments of frustration, tears and angry squeals, for the most part she is still such a happy baby and I LOVE it. I’m soaking in that sweet gummy smile while it’s still here!
I got in some baby snuggles this month, and spent the entire time she lay in my arms wondering where my tiny newborn baby went. They grow up way too fast, y’all! June has been transitioning between one and two naps a day, and I’m trying to get her to move to just one since we are out and about so much during the day! Night is still tough and she’s been waking up pretty much twice a night every night, but I’m working on getting those night wakings down. Someday, someday… I’ll sleep again.
She’s really taking her new name, June “The Mess” Hicks to heart! While she is still not a big food eater, she’s definitely been trying more and eating more, which also means she makes a HUGE mess at mealtimes. James thinks it’s hilarious, and just says “June is a MESS” all the time.
We snuck in a zoo trip before it got too miserable to go outside, and the kiddos had a blast! It was HOT, but James loved all the animals, and June loved seeing people. My little extrovert haha!
We had some fun playdates this month with Oakland and Everleigh. June and Oakland are forming a band, and she and Evee are already bffs.
Oh and June and Miles had a fun, James-free playdate, and we started a little bit of wedding planning just so we don’t get too far behind. ;)
This was a BIG month for June because she had her first indoor Chick-fil-A experience! They finally opened the seating area in our local restaurant, so of course we had to stop by after a fun trip to the library.
Speaking of the library, we have been going about once a week since they started back their kid programs! James and June love it, and it’s fun meeting up there with friends. :)
While June isn’t walking yet, she sure knows how to get around. She furniture surfs like nobody’s business, crawls wicked fast, and loves walking around on her little walker. She will take steps while holding on to our hands, so I know she’s not too far off from taking her first few solo steps.
She’s still not saying much, but sometimes June says “dada” to Isaac. Most of her talking consists of squealing, babbling and “singing” (which is my favorite).
We’ve gotten to hang out with Baby Norah a few times this month and both kids LOVE her. James just wants to stare at her while June attacks her. We’re working on being gentle with the baby haha!
This month we finally got to take our family pictures with Tricia Marie Photography (I edited them) and wow – they are my favorite family pictures yet. I actually made all of our clothes (except for Isaac’s pants) and it’s so cool seeing all their outfits come together! I love my sweet little family.
I can’t believe next month is our last monthly update for Junie girl! Don’t mind me as I cry a little thinking about it. I’m fine. I’m fine.
