HEY THERE!
It has been a while since my last life update, and a LOT has happened since then! I love doing these, because it gives me a chance to sit back and reflect on the past few months. At times I feel like I’m living in a standstill, where I keep trudging along, waking up, going to work and coming home, but when I do these life updates, I realize that that’s not the case at all! It really helps put things into perspective and helps me cherish these moments while they’re here. Because I know that I can blink and everything can be different! I couldn’t think of a more fitting way to start the new year, than by doing a life update. I hope to continue to do one every six months or so, not only because I really enjoy them, but also because if you’re anything like me, then you love these “behind the scenes” posts of people you follow. Don’t lie! You know you do. ; )
Wow, where to begin? So much has happened since August! I started my second year of teaching, and I am love love loving it so far. I have two classes (one with 15 and one with 14) of the sweetest kiddos you’ll ever meet. They are so compassionate, funny, and love learning. It’s such a joy to be their teacher, and I have really enjoyed seeing them grow the past few months. I love my sweet babies. I plan on teaching summer school again this year, and I’m already looking forward to it!
As many of you are aware of, I have also started my own photography business! The website is up and running, and if you live in the DFW area, hit me up. I’m trying to build up my portfolio and gain some experience, and really want to find some new clients in this area. It’s been such an amazing experience, and I am excited to see where this journey takes me. Photography has always been a passion of mine, and I am so happy to finally get to share that with y’all.
I have to start Isaac’s update by first telling you how so very proud I am of him. He has been working his tail off in college and we can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel! He finished his most recent semester with a B average (!!!), and is about to start his very last semester. I told him it’s going to be weird for him to not be in school, but we are both so ready. My little engineer is growing up, y’all!
Isaac has also gotten into woodworking. For Christmas he asked for wood to make a foldable workbench for our apartment patio. He worked so hard on it, and it turned out awesome, if I say so myself. And lucky for him, I have a bunch of projects I want him to make me. Win-win, amiright? He’s also been growing so much in the Lord, and it’s been rewarding to see how he’s matured and become more of a spiritual leader in our relationship. Isaac is a huge fan of Dr. James White (he listens to his podcast avidly), and we are reading through the Gospel Synopsis together this year.
You can check out what’s coming up on the blog here. As for our personal life, we honestly don’t have much planned for this upcoming year. Once Isaac graduates we hope he can get a job in the area, which limits our summer plans a lot (not that I’m complaining! I’m ready for him to get a job). I’m sad we probably won’t go back to Romania this year, but I know there will be other chances for us to go. We do have a half marathon planned for March 19th in San Antonio (the same one we ran last year), and we start training for it today! As of right now, my main goal is to just finish it (I’m outta shape, y’all), but I know we’ll nail down a goal time/pace soon. I’ll be posting periodic updates throughout training, so keep an eye out for that.
In summary, this year’s main goals are to get Isaac out of school, run a half marathon, and (of course) spoil Lillie.
Now it’s your turn to talk! Answer one of these questions in the comments below:

Congrats on all the accomplishments! I have a half in February so training for that!
Thanks so much! And how exciting!! How’s the training going?
So much has happened with y’all! Congrats! Umm Colton started a new job at home yesterday so he’s a happy camper and this semester is going much better than the first to me. :)
So so true! Thanks girl <3 And YAY for new jobs. I hope he's enjoying it so far! Also, I can only imagine how tough that first semester is for counselors. I hope you have an amazing rest of the school year, Jessica!
Look at Lillie’s SWEATER. Oh man, too cute. Congratulations on a huge (almost there!) achievement. My husband is only in his first year of medical school so I feel like we’ve got quite a bit of time until he’s out there in the real world, haha. But, it’s OK. Because he loves what he’s doing and, for that, I am thankful.
As for me, I’m on my third consecutive snow day. (5 day weekend!). I’m not complaining at all though :) It’s given me a chance to dive headfirst into some blog stuff!
Wow, it looks like you all have been super busy. Congrats!!!!
We have been! And it’s not slowing down haha. But I’m loving every second of it!
It makes my heart happy to hear you talk about how much you love teaching and the kids. Also, engineering is not joke (I know this from experience) so good luck to Isaac.
<3 You're so sweet! I love my kiddos, that's for sure! And girl, I don't know how he does it. Engineering is SO tough, and I am so so proud of all he's done so far.
Your photography is beautiful, all the best with your business! I am trying to start up abusiness designing ethical fashion.
Thank you so so much! It’s a dream come true. And that sounds SO cool. I’d love to check it out when it’s up!
First of all, let me say that your dog is beautiful!!! I used to have a golden retriever and I loved that dog so much, I miss her everyday. Congratulations on starting your photography business! I hope everything goes well for you!
Thank you so much!! I love my sweet pup SO much. Goldens are the BEST. And thanks on the congratulations. I am SO excited about how it’s been growing and I’m looking forward to all the exciting things coming up, that’s for sure!
Love the photography website! I’ve been trying to learn more about photography myself, so I would love to hear about any resources you’ve used to improve!
Aww thanks Brianna! I took two online classes before truly feeling ready to start it up. The first was on taking better pictures for my blog (www.megan-weaver.com/bsb/) and the other was on actual portrait/wedding photography- http://store.demoseducation.com/shooting-editing-course (IT’S WORTH EVERY PENNY). I never thought I’d be able to take the pictures I take, and I am THRILLED with every one of them. It’s a dream come true.
Congratulations on starting your photography business! Good luck! Cute doggie and yay for seeing light at the end of the tunnel! Go 2017!
Thank you Chrissy! I still can’t believe I actually have a photography business. It’s so awesome :D
And AMEN. Here’s to 2017!
Congrats on your photography business!
Thank you so much Heather! I am SO excited about it <3
Glad to hear your classes are going so well! Yay for the photo biz!
Yes! I love my sweet kiddos. And it’s so exciting. Especially seeing it grow into something I never dreamt I’d have. It’s amazing!
Congratulations on starting your photography business! And it’s so cool that Isaac is getting into woodworking. :) My dad loves to do that kind of stuff. He stopped doing it for awhile, but got back into it over the summer. He made me a desk, which I absolutely love, and is planning to work on some bookshelves for me soon.
Thank you so much! And ahhh that sounds so cool. I want him to make me a big farmhouse table when we move into a house. Can’t wait!!
i saw those pictures you took for Ginger. Gorgeous. i might have to reach out to you soon for my professional photos.
Glad we were able to get together for some pictures!! <3
Your dog is so pretty! Running a half marathon is a great goal! And I love that you guys will do it together! Having something like that to share that is so healthy is awesome!
Thank you so much! She’s a cutie pie. :) And yes!! We’ve been running together since high school, so it’s just been something we’ve always done. I love it!
We definitely do! I love it though, and it gives us a lot to look forward to. <3
