HEY THERE!
Welp. It happened again. James turned another month old and I am very late to the update party. But this time for good reason! We celebrated his ten months earth-side in Oregon with my bestie Brooke and her family. What a fun trip and a special way to remember it! Now I’m finally home, caught up on sleep and back in the groove of things. Which means I’m back to blogging, embroidery stitching and picture taking – Yay!
So this past month… Wow. It went by SO FAST and I have loved (almost) every second of it. He has such a sweet, laid back personality, and has become quite the wiggle worm the past few weeks. He finally started “crawling” (it’s really just a glorified army crawl, but we’ll take it) and can move quite quickly around the house. He keeps me on my toes, loves going after Lillie’s food and water bowls, and is a champ at eating. He’s consistently eating 2 meals a day, nursing 4-5 times daily, and is currently a fan of anything mama is eating.
Even though the days can be hard and long between wrangling a baby and playing with him, while also trying to keep a clean house and have food on the table, overall I still LOVE this stage in James’s life. Watching him learn new things, interact with me and Isaac more and more every day, hearing his little voice fill the house, and seeing his face light up when I walk into the room. Y’all… It seriously doesn’t get any better than that! I love being his mama more and more every day.
James has learned some new skills this month! Little man started army crawling everywhere, has pushed himself up into a seated position a few times, and loves showing off his downward dog skills. #lookmanohands
Speaking of skills, he also “talks” so much now! He really likes squealing as he rolls around the house, says “ba ba ba” for everything, and has learned how to use his pointer finger to work my phone. He still doesn’t call me “mama” but can use a finger to unlock my phone?! Good grief, y’all.
Our sweet Auntie Caley got herself a master’s degree and came to visit after she graduated! We loved having her over, and James enjoyed all the attention.
And of course, Aunt Brittany came over to play before our weekly Bachelorette hate-watch time. I love seeing my friends love on my baby. It seriously makes my heart swell with all the emotions.
We went on our first beach trip with James this month, and it was so fun! We loved the long weekend away with our best friends, Matt and Brittany, even though the drive and sleeping in a pack ‘n’ play weren’t James’s favorite things in the world. Still, it was fun watching him splash around in the waves, eat handfuls of sand, and nap to the sound of the waves. Plus the pictures on the beach are some of my favorites ever!
On our way back home from Corpus we went to the aquarium in town. It was James’s first time to visit one, and I loved watching him soak it all in! He was intrigued by all the fish swimming in the tanks and oh my goodness, seeing Brittany wear him in the sling made me tear up a little. James seriously has THE best people investing in his life!
I reorganized the living room to create a little play corner for James and we all love it! It’s given him a little space to have all his toys in one spot, and I can’t wait to get a play mat for it. Even though he’s not quite as interested in the mirror as he was at the beginning, it was SO FUN watching him give himself “kisses”. Ahhh why is he so cute?! Also, PRAISE for cameras, because I love that I was able to capture this cuteness before he stopped doing it.
Sadly, we haven’t been to as many playdates lately since we’ve all been so busy. But we were able to squeeze in a trip to the splash pad with our buds and it was a blast!
My summer baby is a fan of watermelon, nuff said.
He’s only pulled up once and it was inside a laundry basket, but he was so proud of himself!
We ended this month with a trip to Oregon to visit Brooke, Mike and Tommie. I’ll post those pictures in next month’s update, since most of our visit there was after his month-iversary. But look at these airplane pictures! I know I’ve talked about how much I love babywearing before, but this trip brought it to a whole new level. I could not have survived those two flights there without my ring sling. It made the perfect spot for him to nap, as well as a “seat belt” to keep him safe while still getting to play in my lap. Thank you Wildbird!
And that, my friends, was a crazy month. I can’t wait to see what the rest of this month holds for us… It’s already been one for the books. :)
