HEY THERE!
Well… Here we are again. Another month. Another update. Another morning spent tearing up at pictures, wondering where time has gone. And another post filled with pictures and memories I’ll cherish forever. This month was one for the books. James has changed so much and become crazily active, “talkative” and (believe it or not) even cuter than before. It also brought his first sickness and a tummy bug for me – yuck!
My heart bursts most mornings when I pull him out of his crib and see how big my baby boy has gotten. I didn’t realize I could love a tiny little human so much. Nor that I would find myself missing him when he goes to bed, and wanting to wake him up in the mornings just so I can see his smile, feel his little hands grab mine, and watch him play with his toys. Motherhood changes you, that’s for sure. And I have to say… I love the change!
He is sitting up like a CHAMP! While he still has his moments where he loses balance and falls, James is able to sit up for about 30 minutes at a time, and he loves it. He has so much fun playing with his toys while sitting!
Speaking of sitting up, someone now gets to REALLY splash in the tub. It’s the cutest.
James is still quite the lady’s man. He loves his weekly playdates (and mama does too!).
His little smile SLAYS ME. Anytime he sees the phone camera, he knows to turn on the charm and smile. While we’re still working on smiling in public, he’s definitely mastered the selfie.
I had some photoshoots in Bonham (my hometown) and brought James with me. He loved playing on Gigi’s floor, and got in some snuggles with his great grandma, II Mama. So sweet!
March and April in Texas means it’s bluebonnet season. ‘Nuff said.
It was also tulip season in North Texas, and I loved getting to check out Poston Gardens with James and our playdate friends Katie and Addison.
Speaking on bluebonnets, I was able to convince my little sister to snap some family pictures in my favorite bluebonnet patch. I can’t love these enough! Auntie Rachie did an amazing job.
It took me a few days to get over my stomach bug, and Isaac helped SO MUCH. I loved watching him play with James, and I have to say… James loved it too.
James wore a baseball hat for the first time this month. I almost cried because it was so freaking cute.
We’ve been soaking in this beautiful spring weather lately! Lots of mornings spent on the back patio, walking around the neighborhood and with the windows open. This season brings me so much joy!
Baby Led Weaning has taken off this month! James is eating 2-3 times a day, and is doing SO GOOD. I love the book “Born to Eat” (< affiliate link) and it’s helped me so much in figuring out which foods to give James and how to keep him safe. It is so fun watching him eat. He has definitely started developing a preference for certain foods, and will pick through his food looking for whichever item he was wanting to eat.
Currently his favorite foods: blueberries, strawberries, sweet potato and avocado
We went on a road trip to Quitaque, TX (pronounced Kitty-Quay) for Isaac’s 50K at Caprock Canyons State Park. It was COLD and rainy all day, but we loved getting to cheer on Dada at the finish line. The next day was beautiful, so we went hiking at the state park and y’all. Those views are breathtaking!
Little man is all about books lately! He loves his Usborne fold out books and the different textures in the touchy-feely books.
One of my favorite things James has been doing lately? When he wakes up he likes to grab Winston the Walrus (his lovey) and whack him against the sides of his cribs. We joke that it’s our James alarm clock and I this it’s the cutest thing ever. He’ll just wave Winston above his head and behind his back until he finds the crib.
While he isn’t crawling yet, James has been working on a weird belly scoot where he will put his weight on his head and one shoulder then push off with the opposite leg while the other one flails in the air. It’s hard to explain, but it gets him where he needs to go, so I guess it’s working for him! Also, the kid knows how to ROLL. I’ll turn around for a minute and he’ll be on the opposite side of the room just smiling away, so proud of himself. I have to admit… I’m pretty proud too!
As of this week we officially have a teether! James has TWO bottom teeth coming in right now – eek! Thankfully he hasn’t been super fussy or irritable. Just drooly. Super duper drooly!
And the best part of the month? Isaac’s brother, Ethan, proposed to his (now) fiancée, Audrey, and James got to be there to celebrate afterwards!

What a crazy, fun, busy month! I can’t believe we only have THREE more updates till little man is a year old. #bestillmyheart
