HEY THERE!
Well… for the first time in four kids I’m writing an update for two months. The past few weeks have just been SO busy that I never had a moment to sit down and write about Fran turning 6 months old. So… here we are with a seven month old and a double update. Enjoy ;)
Frances has changed so much the past couple of months! She’s really developing the cutest personality, and loves finding ways to make everyone laugh. Her latest “trick” is sticking her tongue out as far as it can go and looking around till someone sees her. I belly laugh every time! She also started eating solids, has TWO teeth and is crawling like a pro.
The past seven months have absolutely flown by. I don’t know if it’s because she’s not a summer baby (like all my other kids) or what, but it always catches me off guard when I see her hitting milestones and, you know, things 7 month olds do. In my mind I should still have a tiny little newborn. Mom brains are weird, man.
As I said, Frances has changed a lot recently. She went from her “breaststroke” crawl to full on hands and knees. She’s still not *super* fast, but I know speed will come soon. She’s enjoying her newfound freedom, and loves finding things to get into – like piles of Lillie hair that collect under the couch, climbing on our Roomba “Ruby”, eating people’s shoes and getting into all the big kids’ toys.
Fran has also started pulling up to standing, and we’re planning on lowering her crib this weekend. She is SO proud of herself when she does it, and does her scrunchy silent laugh when you make eye contact with her. The kids, on the other hand, are devastated that it’s getting harder and harder to find “safe” places to put their things.
My gummy little baby is no more! Randomly one day a few weeks ago I caught a glimpse of a little tooth poking through, and the next thing I knew she had TWO. And boy do they hurt when she chomps down on your finger.
One of my favorite things that she does is stick her tongue out all. the. time. It makes me laugh every time she does it, which I know fuels the fire. She’s just the cutest little thing!
Sleep is going sooo much better now that we’re through the worst of the sleep regression and training. She usually sleeps around 12+ hours a day, with a dream feed once in the middle of the night. Some days are better than others, but I’m definitely enjoying the extra rest I’ve been getting lately.
And another big milestone happened this month – Frances began eating foods! Her very first food was avocado and she spent the entire time gagging and coughing while making funny faces. We all found it quite hilarious, and that dinner was especially goofy. I’m in no rush to get her eating foods, so we’re just focusing on slowly introducing new flavors and textures. Fran loves being at the table with us, and she just makes the whole affair so happy and fun.
Frances is the smiliest, happiest chillest little baby! She is such a joy to have around, and I love watching her interact with her big siblings. They all love each other so much, and I can’t wait to see their friendship continue to grow over the coming years.
These months were full of fun adventures! In August Frances and I flew to Oregon with Emily for a besties weekend with our friend Brooke. It was the perfect trip, and we all had a BLAST. Oregon is just beautiful, and it was the most perfect reprieve from the Texas heat. Plus you just can’t beat staying up late talking with your best friends, chick flicks, a road trip to the coast and shopping.
We also went to our first pumpkin patch of the season! It was hot and dusty, but we all had a fantastic time with our co-op friends. We went on a tractor ride, cut pumpkins off the vine, ate apple cider donuts and played till way past nap time.
Last weekend, Frances joined me and Isaac on our trip to the Denton Arts & Jazz Fest. We started going back in 2011 when we were just seniors in high school, so this festival is near and dear to us. It had been 5 years since we last went, and it ended up being such a perfect day! We ate delicious food, listened to great music and enjoyed a simple afternoon together.
The rest of our time has been spent hanging out in her tent on my bed while I got work done, playing together in the living room, visiting the farm and just living life together. Happy 6 and 7 months, Frances Anne!
