HEY THERE!
Fall is here!! I probably shouldn’t be this excited about a cold front coming through, but I am happy to finally have an excuse to make soup, drink hot tea and smell up my room with every fall scent out there! Hopefully soon I’ll be able to wear boots again, but my personal rule is that it needs to be under 80 for a whole week until I can justify wearing them… and we have definitely not gotten there yet.
I have just finished my first seven week rotation in Wylie and am starting my time in a 5th grade English Language Arts class on Tuesday. I can’t believe how fast time is flying and how much I am going to miss my thirty-eight dual language third graders. God has really shown me these past few weeks that this is what I want to do with my life! I think I can do this whole teaching thing. However, I am so nervous about the upcoming seven weeks, since fifth grade scares the snot out of me, but I know that God will help me through it. Who knows? Maybe I’ll love fifth grade more than third grade…
On another note, I’ve really enjoyed creating new recipes that are easy to make and easy on the budget! My goal during student teaching is to eat healthily as well as spend as little as possible on groceries. Living at home helps that a lot, but at the same time I don’t want to eat all of my family’s groceries so I go out once a week and stock up on fresh vegetables, fruits and snack foods to bring to school and eat at home. I have done pretty well during the week, and now my next thing to tackle is the daunting weekend… It is way too easy to just eat whatever and not using any self-control. But I WILL do it. I will. One meal at a time!
I hope to post the recipes over the next few days, since I have a little less homework this weekend and a little more free time. I am going to enjoy it while it lasts! Here’s a snapshot of the recipes that are to come! Obviously, I love breakfast foods. Aaand those are usually the only ones I remember to take a picture of.
I have also been doing Beth Moore’s study called Children of the Day and God has been teaching me and the other women doing the study so much! It has been such a blessing to be able to have a group of God-loving women to meet up with every Wednesday night, including my dear mother, and doing the studies throughout the week. Before leaving, I wanted to share some verses that touched my heart this week and really made me think. I hope you have a wonderful evening and check back in for the recipes that are coming soon!
