HEY THERE!
If you’ve been reading here long enough, you probably know I LOVE sensory bins. They are a great way to encourage open ended and imaginative play in kids. And they are also a wonderful way to instill good habits in them, as they learn to follow rules, pick up after themselves and play together. Today I’m excited to share these fall activity and sensory bins. I had so much fun picking out everything and brainstorming all the fun ways you and your kids can play with them.

Everything used here was actually found at Hobby Lobby. It may be harder to find some of the items now that fall is winding down, but I’m sure you can still find may of them. Or you can substitute them with different ones! These sensory bins and activity boxes are a great starting point, and I encourage you to find things that fit with your budget or will work better for your children. I actually used a lot of the same items in many of the boxes, and used a few things left over from previous years. Just get creative and see what you can put together!
I use these plastic boxes to store the sensory bin materials. They are amazing, and the perfect size for storing in our hall closet.
This activity box was inspired by my recent trip to Oregon. We got to pick and eat apples straight from the tree, and even made apple cider! We had a blast, and this was a fun way to bring a little of that magic to playtime.

Materials:
Diorama trees
Small red pom poms
Glue dots
Brown decorative crinkle cut paper
Apple orchard sign

Because let’s be real… it’s not fall without a pumpkin patch! My kids love this box, and had fun rearranging and organizing their pumpkins into the perfect configuration.

Pinecones
Pumpkins
Resin pumpkins
Mini Scarecrows

Raffia

This is the sensory bin I was most excited about! I thought the whole concept was just SO CUTE, and love all the little forest animals. This is James’s favorite one, and he really enjoys setting everything up and playing with the frogs and turtles.

Resin squirrels
Pompom acorns

My girls love anything tea party, and when I saw those cute little doilies, I KNEW I needed to use them somehow. It all came together as I perused the fall kitchen aisle. The little pumpkin shaped creamer pot that can be a “tea pot”. The copper mugs that can be used as tea cups (bonus: they aren’t breakable). The little spoons and a few pumpkins for good measure. The girls love setting it up and having a hot cuppa in the afternoons.
