HEY THERE!
One of the things I love the most about painting is creating pieces that have a story or meaning behind them. Yesterday I added some new paintings to my Etsy shop that I wanted to share with y’all, because each one of them means something to me and has so much more to them than just some pretty colors or unique fonts.
This painting is one of my favorites! The message speaks to me, because what girl doesn’t have insecurities about how they look? I love this verse because it reminds me that in God’s eyes I am beautiful. I was created by Him. In my mother’s womb He knitted me together. I am His workmanship. He is the potter and I am the clay, the work of His hands. Because of the blood of Jesus Christ, I am perfect in His sight, and I am beautiful. So, then, why do we worry about what the world thinks or says about us when we are so cherished by God? That is why I love this painting… because it reminds me that I am His princess.

The message in this painting is inspiring! Refusing to sink means you refuse to give in to the pressures around you, into the temptations you face and the negativity that seems to be everywhere. Instead, we need to remember that we are anchored in Christ and we are to keep our eyes fixed on Him. As it says in Hebrews 12:1-2,
Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.

This is a beautiful painting that was inspired by a song I heard in church recently. I always loved this Bible passage (and the song), but it wasn’t until recently that I really listened to what the words were saying and thought about what they meant. I realized that this should be my prayer every day- to pant for the Lord as much as a deer pants for water. I should long and yearn for His sating presence, refreshing word and cool breeze as much as I pant for water on a hot summer’s day. I hope this painting reminds you of that as well!

I love this painting for many reasons, but I think the greatest one is because it is a quote from my favorite hymn, “Come Thou Fount”. It’s a beautiful song, that reminds me how forgiving and full of grace God is, as well as how much we desperately need Him. I pray daily that my heart may be bound to God. I am so amazed and humbled that regardless of my wanderings and shortcomings, He still loves me and calls me to Him.
O to grace how great a debtor daily I’m constrained to be!
Let Thy goodness, like a fetter, bind my wandering heart to Thee:
Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it, prone to leave the God I love;
Here’s my heart, O take and seal it; seal it for Thy courts above.

This iconic quote from “A Midsummer’s Night Dream” by Shakespeare is when Helena describes Hermia as a little, short girl who, regardless of her size is still a force to be reckoned with. I love this quote because of how powerful it is. I feel like more times than not we are underestimated or judged because of our size, and many people can relate to that, which is why this quote is so popular. Instead, I believe that when we take time to get to know the people around us and we will see how they are made of so much more, like fierceness! Fierceness does not just mean strength or brutality… I think we can be fierce in our opinions, beliefs, love and passions. Remember that you are so much more than how you look on the outside. You are fierce.
