HEY THERE!
Today I’m sharing some awesome go-tos for your next college care package. These picks are easy on the wallet, and anyone would love them! This post contains affiliate links, which means I receive a small compensation to help keep my blog running if you make a purchase using one of these links.
My sweet sister started college this fall, and I still can’t believe it. In my mind, she’s still the baby sister I begged my parents for, and the little girl who I used to dress up like my own personal baby doll. But now here she is, all grown up, beautiful, and taking on the world. She’s studying to be an elementary teacher, and I honestly couldn’t pick a better career path for her. She’s great with kids, has more patience than I’ll ever have, and y’all… I am so proud of her. The other day I was texting her, and realized just how much I wished I could just give her a big hug. But since I can’t, I decided to make her a care package instead. I had a lot of fun shopping for some of her favorite things, and I know she’s going to love it!
When shopping for a college care package, it’s important to take into consideration what your recipient likes. I decided to get my sister some treats I knew she would enjoy, but were also dorm room friendly. I also wanted to get her some things to pass time and have fun with friends, because you can never have too many card games or coloring books! And finally, I knew she would appreciate having some things to pamper herself with, because lets face it- sometimes you just need to treat yo’self.
I also decorated the inside flaps of the box to make it look pretty. I just used some mod podge to glue down some scrapbook paper, and cut out the words that I glued on as well. It was super easy and turned out really cute, if I say so myself.
I know how much my sister loves chocolate, so I decided to give her some of her favorites, along with a few things that caught my eye. While shopping for her package, I sampled the Larabar Bites, and really liked them. They are covered in cocoa powder, and I liked how they were bite sized instead of a full bar like normal. As for the Barkthins, who doesn’t like them?! I love the sweet and salty with the dark chocolate, sea salt and pretzels. SO good. And if you’ve ever been to or even heard about Trader Joe’s, then you must have heard about their Cookie Butter. Talk about a guilty pleasure!!
Adult coloring books are all the rage right now, and it’s right up my sister’s alley. Coloring is a great way to help manage stress, which is why I knew it would be perfect for her to relax after long days of going to class, doing homework and being a college kid. I also got her some card games that she can play with her friends. I think that some of the best memories I have from college are when my friends and I hung out and played games together. It’s a great way to get to know other people, and talk to one another. As for the headband, I live by the motto “you can never have too many headbands”, so naturally she got one too!
Taking care of yourself is so important! I know money can be tight when you’re in college, so I got her some little things I knew she would like. I’m all about the EOS lip balms and lotions, so I threw some those in, and when I came across the Sally Hansen gel strips, I couldn’t resist! My sister is always painting her nails, so I thought the strips would be a fun project to try out. I didn’t get anything fancy or expensive, just things I knew she would use all the time.
