HEY THERE!
I am such a sucker for anything Christmas-y! I’m in such a good mood this time of year, simply because I can’t help but smile when I see decorations and hear music playing everywhere I go. One of my favorite things to do during the holiday season is spend quality time with loved ones. From driving around to look at Christmas lights, to snuggling up to watch my favorite movies or catching up over a game of cards and cookies, I love it all. Today I decided to share some of my favorite Christmas date nights you can do from the comforts of your home (because did I also mention I’m the biggest home-body??). The best part about them is that you can do them with your significant other, but they are also so much fun to do with some of your closest friends. I look forward to these fun nights every year, and can’t wait to someday share them with my kids.
I love baking cookies this time of year! One of my favorite things to do is find a new recipe to try (or come up with a new one like these Cranberry Orange Cookies I’m sharing next week). Not only is the entire process an adventure, but I love hanging out with my hubby in the kitchen. We have so much fun bumping into each other, laughing and being silly.
I don’t normally indulge in hot chocolate (in fact, as much as I love chocolate, I used to hate it when I was younger!), but I love sipping on some while looking at Christmas lights or when I’m snuggled up watching a movie. I like to make it fun by having a hot chocolate bar where you can add all kinds of toppings and flavors! For this bar, I had hot chocolate, marshmallows, crushed Oreos, crushed candy canes, candy canes, whipped cream, coffee creamer and mini chocolate chips.
My family has done this a couple of times in the past, and this year I decided it would be fun to do it with Isaac as a little date night. I bought a gingerbread house village pack, and we made and decorated our miniature houses. How fun, right? Best of all, we brought the competition to Facebook and let our friends vote on the one they liked the best.
Isaac won! His is the house on the left.
It’s just not Christmastime without a night of watching my favorite Christmas movies! My go-tos are White Christmas, Elf, The Santa Clause and my favorite (cheesy) ABC Family movie, Holidaze. Those movies are heart warming and fun, and I can watch them over and over again. They definitely hold a special place in my heart.
Now it’s your turn to talk! Answer one of these questions in the comments below:

So cute!! I’ve become such a homebody too. We have different traditions with different couple friends. One of our friends we make a huge dinner, eat apple pie, drink wine and whiskey (the guys) and watch Christmas vacation. Another we go look at Christmas lights with.
I love that so much! Y’all always seem to have so much fun. We have a couple that we go to the Denton Wassail Festival with every year. :)
I think my husband and I would love the gingerbread competition the best.
Doesn’t it sound like so much fun?? You should do it! It’s a blast, as we kept checking Facebook to see who was ahead. :)
I love these ideas! My husband works third shift, so we don’t get to go out a lot! These are some great ideas!
That’s why I love these date nights so much- you can do them at any time!
Great ideas, we do the movie night but I love the hot chocolate bar. Great tips
Yes! The hot chocolate bar is a lot of fun, and makes a normal movie night extra special (and sweet!).
Love the gingerbread house competition!! we always watch Christmas Vacation together!
It’s a blast! You should give it a try. :) And we watched Christmas Vacation last week.. It’s one of my hubby’s favorite Christmas movies and it’s slowly grown on me!
Such sweet ideas. I love making a gingerbread house one. That’s just too cute!
I love it so much! Especially when you make it a competition (as long as it stays in good fun, of course)!
I love the gingerbread house competition idea! I have actually never made a gingerbread house, and I feel like I am missing out on something! We love to build a cozy fire, and share dinner while watching a Christmas movie [preferably something with Rudolph]! :)
Girl!! You need to give it a try! We have ours on display in our house for some extra Christmas decorations. And a fire, dinner and Christmas movie sounds soooooo cozy and fun. Right up my alley!
Love these, like you I am a Christmas freak and I love practicing cute traditions. It’s also such an expensive time of year to be going out!
I agree! The money we spend goes up SO much during the Christmas season, so these easy date nights you can have at home are perfect, aren’t they? And yay for cute traditions! They are my favorite. <3
I love the hot chocolate bar idea, how cute! That’d be great for a fun movie night with friends too!
Definitely! We did the hot chocolate bar again a few nights later with my sister, and she loved it. Best of all, you can do the hot chocolate bar any time of the year, not just at Christmas. Score!
I’m on board with the hot chocolate bar!! (I made some from scratch the other day and my husband was so impressed. To be honest, I was pretty impressed with myself too! Desperate times call for desperate measures. And I wasn’t about to head out in 13 degree weather to get some hot chocolate mix so I had to improvise!)
Homemade hot chocolate sounds SO good!! I need to give it a try soon. It would be PERFECT for my hot chocolate bar. Yum!!
We have Christmas movie nights a lot this time of year. Such a fun cuddle date!
Me too! I’ve been watching one every few nights while working on my computer or painting. It’s something I look forward to every year at Christmastime. <3
Love these ideas! It’s always fun to bake things around Christmas and I love movie nights too!
Yes! I feel like I never usually bake except for Christmastime haha. It’s too dangerous every other time of year.
I love creative ways we can still make great memories at home together when the kids are in bed! Love the hot chocolate bar! So romantic!
Yes! And no need to pay for a babysitter either. Win-win. <3 Date nights at home are my favorite!
Love date nights at home! Anything I can wear sweatpants for is my jam.
Heck yes! I go straight to sweat pants or leggings the minute I get home haha.
Great ideas! We love watching Christmas movies at home during December!
Me too!! Even if it’s just the movie going on in the background while I cook dinner or work on my computer, I love love love it. Christmas movies are some of my all time favorites!
Aww I love all these ideas. That hot chocolate bar is so cute! I love that idea for my next cookie party. And Elf is one of my go-tos too!
Cookie parties sound like SO much fun too! Maybe next year I can get all my friends together to decorate cookies. And yay for Elf! It’s so funny!!
I love all of these! My husband and I always need date night ideas
Thanks Brittany! The best part about them is that you can do them at any time, in the comfort of your sweatpants and home haha.
Such sweet ideas! Christmas movie date nights are tradition around here. Would love to do the gingerbread house competition with hubby!
Movie nights are my favorite thing during Christmastime! And you should do a gingerbread house decorating competition. It’s seriously SO much fun, especially when the results start coming in on Facebook haha!
Such fun ideas! We are lucky, we actually get to have an out of the house date night next week-but we’ll be using some of these suggestions until that time!
Aww how fun! What are y’all doing for your date night?
I love baking cookies! A hot chocolate bar sounds right up my alley though.
Yes!! The hot chocolate bar was a hit, and my sister loved it too. So much fun. <3
Really cute post! Sign me up for Christmas movie nights, with a side of cocoa!
Oh yes! Movie nights with hot cocoa are my fave. :)
i see how chocolate bar + movie night happening very soon!
That’s the best combo! Or you can do a gingerbread house competition while drinking hot chocolate and watching a Christmas movie for the ultimate Christmas date ;)
A gingerbread house competition is such a cute idea! Love it.
Thanks Suzanne! It’s SO much fun, and I look forward to it every year. Next year I’m winning, I’m sure. ;)

Thanks Nicole! I’m sharing a more detailed post about my hot chocolate bar on Monday!
These are fantastic ideas! I definitely love date nights and we can’t always get out of the house without our toddler.
Thanks Susannah! Amen to that! I don’t have a toddler, but I definitely prefer to spend time at home.
