HEY THERE!
This little room holds so many dear memories for me. It’s been the nursery for all four of my kids, and I have loved seeing it change over the years with each new baby. This Bumblebee Nursery turned out cuter than I ever imagined. I kept it gender neutral since we were waiting till the birth to find out if it was a girl or a boy. And once Frances was here I added some girly touches.
My goal was bright, cheerful and just plain cute, and the nursery turned out exactly the way I wanted. I love the pops of yellow in contrast to the neutrals and wicker. I also tried to incorporate lots of greenery and plants (all fake, of course) in the room to give it a “natural” feel. From the quilt my mom made, to a driftwood bumblebee from the Oregon coast to a crocheted bumblebee mobile, this room is also full of intentional pieces that make it very sentimental.
I’ve linked everything I can at the bottom of the post!
In the weeks leading up to the baby being born, I learned how to crochet these little bumblebees. I am absolutely in love with how the mobile turned out! I don’t know what I’m going to do with them when this is no longer Fran’s nursery, but I know I’ll find a fun way to use them in her “big girl room”.
For the past three birth announcements, I’ve used an embroidered hoop with the baby’s name and birth details. Since Fran was a surprise gender birth, I had the bees and honeycomb embroidered already. After she was born I added her name and everything else… It turned out SO cute and I love those little bumblebees.
I also made the honeycomb “rug” a few days before Frances was born. I used the same trapezoid template as the quilt my mom made, quilted it and then bound the edges. It turned out exactly how I wanted and it was the perfect play mat for when Fran was really little.
There are three fun details on this shelf:
The cutest little bee, made out of Oregon driftwood. This was the baby’s very first gift, and I think of my sweet best friend who lives across the country every time I look at it.
I spent months finding the perfect pieces for the gallery wall. I wanted something cute and bee themed, but also gender neutral. The two bee frames are actually greeting cards! And I got the super fun poster on Etsy. I absolutely love how everything came together!
The dresser, crib (originally from Ikea), huge wicker trunk, quilt rack/shelf are all from Facebook Marketplace
Frames are from Goodwill and antique stores
The plants and beehives are from Hobby Lobby and Joann (collected over the years)
Bug poster (Etsy)
Poster hanger (Amazon)
Changing basket (Design Dua)
Recliner (similar from Wayfair)
Shelf by the recliner (Hobby Lobby)
Stuffed bears (Cuddle and Kind)
Slings (Wildbird)
Laundry hamper (Amazon)
Anne of Green Gables book (Amazon)
Check out these other nursery tours from James and Ellie’s rooms! Sadly I never got around to taking pictures of June’s nursery.
And I would be remiss if I didn’t share some of the amazing newborn pictures we took in the nursery! Tricia takes our family photos every year, and I just love her.
