HEY THERE!
I had such an amazing birthday weekend! It was so nice to take a break from being an adult to have some fun with friends, eat lots of yummy foods, sleep in and see our families. If 23 is going to be anything like the past few days, I know I’m in for the best year yet.
Isaac and I started the birthday celebrations on Friday night when we headed to Dallas to check out the Truck Yard. We had been wanting to go for a few years, and I’m so glad we finally made it out there! It was SUPER crowded (which was to be expected on a beautiful Friday night), and after searching for a parking spot and then somewhere to sit, we really enjoyed our visit.
The Truck Yard is an outdoor eating area, fenced in with tall privacy fences, full of picnic tables, chairs and a bar, and strung with lights. It was lively, but not too loud and the food was amazing. Every night the Truck Yard hosts three different food trucks where the visitors can buy their food and hang out while eating. We had so much fun, and Lillie loved getting to sniff around everywhere and she got lots of pets from everyone she met. We ended the night with some yummy ice cream from a little restaurant next door to the Truck Yard called Motor Sisters Ice Cream. It was perfect.
On Saturday, my actual birthday, Isaac made me the best waffles ever, and I’m not just saying that because of all the love he put into making them! He followed a recipe that we found online, and even though it was also the most complicated waffle recipe ever, they turned out amazing. I have to give him huge kudos for breakfast!
After breakfast, we headed to our hometown to see our families. I went shopping at a cool little trades day-ish place that afternoon with Isaac’s mom while he mowed, and we ended the night with Mexican and brownies with my family. It was so nice to catch up with everyone, and I got to see my baby sister (who’s a SENIOR… what?!) all dressed up for prom. Wasn’t she gorgeous?
Celebrating birthdays with my family is one of my favorite things to do. We have a family tradition of singing not just the normal “Happy Birthday” song, but six different ones at every birthday (the number has slowly increased over the years), and we tell jokes, quote movies, bring up funny memories and laugh the whole time. I still remember the first time Isaac experienced a Campbell Family birthday party… we always joke that if you stick through one of those, then you are probably a keeper.
On Sunday one of my sweet friends from church invited us and another couple over to their apartment for dinner and cake. We had some delicious Italian food, and after stuffing our faces with cake and ice cream, we played cards, talked and laughed for hours. I left their apartment with a full heart and so grateful for the amazing friends and family God has given me.
If I could pick one word to describe this weekend, it would be overflowing. My heart is overflowing with the love, friendship, joy, laughter and fellowship I experienced these past few days. I thank God for bringing such amazing people into my life, and I pray that He may be lifted even higher this year than ever before. And may all glory be given to Him.
