HEY THERE!
Wow I can hardly believe August is almost over! These past few weeks have flown by, and it’s been hard to keep track of time. This time of year is my favorite. I love the long summer days that slowly get cooler, reminding us that fall is right around the corner. The start of the school year brings back so many fond memories from high school. My excitement to be back at school, cross country practices, marching band, football games, hanging out with friends, and when I first met Isaac six years ago. Fall is my favorite season of the year, and I have already started counting down the days till the start of the season. Isaac’s rule is that I cannot decorate until the season starts, and you better believe that in 27 days those pumpkins will be coming out of storage! So since it’s been a while since our June Life Update and a lot has happened since then, I decided it was time for another one.
Oh, and you don’t want to miss out on the giveaway at the end of this post! I know you’re going to LOVE it.
Well I’m finishing up my first week of my second year of teaching, and so far it’s been amazing! I have a fantastic group of kiddos, and love that I get to speak Spanish every day. I’m nervous about teaching all subjects this year instead of just reading, writing and social studies like last year. Thankfully I have a great support team at my school, and they have already helped me tremendously. Third grade is such a fun age to teach, and seeing my kiddos from last year around school always brings a smile to my face. I know they will always hold a special place in my heart!
Outside of school, I am busy taking naps, attempting to cook dinners and half heartedly working out. These past few weeks have been TOUGH! I know that once I get settled into a daily routine things will get better, but I have to send a huge shoutout to Isaac for picking up my slack. He’s made dinner twice this week, and he has been so understanding through it all. I don’t deserve him, y’all!
Isaac started his last year of college yesterday! He said he thinks he’s really going to enjoy his classes, and likes most of his professors. I’m so happy for him, and proud of all the hard work he’s already put into this coming school year. All of his classes are related to his major, Industrial Engineering, and he’s excited about that. In the spring Isaac hopes to get an internship to gain more experience in his major and hopefully job connections from that.
In his free time, Isaac has been doing a lot of reading (he’s currently reading the Cost of Discipleship by Dietrich Bonhoeffer), and is going dove hunting in a few weeks. I have mixed feelings about that… On one side I hope he gets something, to make the hunting trip worthwhile, but on the other I hope I don’t have to learn how to cook fresh, shotgun pellet-filled dove. He is also having fun looking up places for us to trail run around the area, because we hope to run a trail race in the next few months.
Don’t forget to check out my Etsy shop soon for some fall inspired paintings and printables I’ve been working on! They are adorable if I say so myself.
Also, I’ve been doing Country Heat by Beachbody, so keep an eye out in a few weeks for a review of the program. My thoughts so far: LOVE LOVE LOVE it. If it wasn’t for Country Heat, I wouldn’t be working out at all right now! I look forward to dancing it out all day.
Now for the giveaway! I am giving away TWO custom monogram decals and a bag full of healthy goodies to end the summer with a bang. I am in LOVE with these decals, and aren’t the Lilly Pulitzer patterns adorable?! And who doesn’t love having the ability to monogram everything within sight?!
The winner will be announced on Instagram next Saturday (September 3rd) and I will email the winner once the giveaway has closed. If the winner has not responded to the email within 48 hours with details for their monogram and their shipping address, then a new winner will be selected.
Good luck, and may the odds be in your favor!

My mom stews dove or throws them on the grill. It’s not too tricky. Good luck with your trail run, you will have to share which race you decide to do.
I guess it’s not as bad as it sounds when you put it that way! Thanks for helping qualm my fears haha. And I’ll post about it when we decide on one… there are so many out there!!
That’s so exciting for both of you! I wish you well as you start out another school year. Be sure to get plenty of rest and make time for one another through all the business!
Thank you Natalie!! Time with my hubby is something I cherish. I’m not letting anything get in the way of that!
What a fun giveaway! Can’t wait to see your new stuff on Etsy.
Thanks Penny!! I should be adding the new listings over the course of the next few weeks, so make sure to check in to see what’s available!
How cute are those decals? I love them! Hope you had a wonderful first week back at school.
xoxo, Jenny
Yes, who doesn’t love to decal anything they can! Here’s to a good school year for you and your husband.
So happy I found your blog! I can’t wait to stalk your etsy ;)
My son has just started his second year of teaching. I just made him pillows with removable coverings so they can be washed for him to use in his classroom. He requested bright primary colors. Kids love them.
You’re so crafty! I love it, and Etsy is my jam. :) Thanks for sharing
This month really did fly by! I am so excited for fall! Teaching must be so much fun, I would love to be able to shape such young minds.

It seems like August just started! As much as I enjoy summer, I am looking forward to some nice fall weather and food. Thanks for being willing to shape the minds of our younger generation.
I know this is a stressful time for all the teachers. Thank for the putting all of yourself into teaching your kids! Thank god for helpful husbands! He has a great idea about getting an internship too. It will make getting a full time job so much easier when he graduates. He may also look into doing a co-op with a company. It will delay his graduation a little, but will give him much more experience. My husband and I are both engineers (mechanical) and we did co-ops in college. We both had multiple offers when we graduated, even in a down economy!
You had such a great trip! I loved seeing all the pictures. I’m also soooo happy for you and your painting classes! I know you’ll do well :)
