HEY THERE!
Happy Friday, y’all!
Today’s post is a special one in honor of my birthday this coming Sunday. I can’t believe I’m turning 24 (growing up, I always thought that any age over 21 was super old), and how different my birthday feels now compared to when I was little. I used to literally count down the days months in advance, letting everyone know how many days were left till the big day. Thankfully I’ve outgrown that rather cute (yet very annoying, I can imagine) habit, and now birthdays for me are more about having an excuse to hang out with friends and family! And cake. Lots of cake!
This year, though, my birthday feels somewhat bittersweet. I’m excited for what this coming year will hold, and to see all that the Lord will teach me in the months ahead. The prospect of change is scary, yet exciting at the same time! But, as I look back on year 23, tears spring into my eyes. I am closing the chapter on one of the toughest and most fulfilling years of my life. I have grown so much through the trials and lessons this year has held, and I am definitely not the same girl I started the year off as. I’m a little bit wiser, more careful with the words I say, and more intentional with the time I spend with loved ones. I’ve seen the death of people I hold dear, enjoyed precious snuggles with long awaited newborns, watched my dad go through 6 months of chemo, and seen my older brother fall in love. It has been a roller coaster of a year, but I have never felt so close to my family, nor leaned so much on the Lord before. I love this verse in James that says,
Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
James 1:2-4
When I feel beat down and heartbroken, I just remember this verse and know that it’s the Lord teaching me to hold on to Him. He’s my anchor, my reason for living, and my ultimate goal is to glorify Him!

So when thinking of a fun way to end this year of life, I decided to share 24 things (I bet) you didn’t know about me. Because who doesn’t love learning a few juicy secrets about others? ; )
Well there you have it! 24 things I bet you didn’t know about me. : )
Now it’s your turn to talk! Answer one of these questions in the comments below:
Do you have any similar “secrets”?
What is something I don’t know about you?

Happy birthday from a fellow black coffee drinking, Cracker Barrel loving lady!!!! ????????????????????
Aww I knew I liked you for a reason, Harmony! ;) We have so much in common!
Love! Happy early birthday sweet girl! You make me feel so old. ;P I’m with you on the pizza thing. Every. Day. I didn’t know you were fluent in Spanish!! Definitely take a trip to Mexico. It’s my happy place!
Aww you’re not old girl! <3 And happy almost birthday to you! I love that ours are so close together.
And yes yes yes I want to go to Mexico so bad! Hopefully someday!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
I love your list.
Princess Diaries is one of my ALL time favorite series. I love that you were inspired by it, even if the journals weren’t too exciting. ;)
I love cruising! You sound like my brother though who won’t go on one because he thinks sharks will get on the ship – haha!
I also can’t refuse brownies, chocolate chip cookies, or mac and cheese. I hope you get some of those for your birthday. :)
YES to Princess Diaries! I was obsessed with the entire series. And I got lots of cookies and cake, so I was happy haha :)
Happy Birthday! I loved your list! The one about drinking black coffee made me laugh :) and I’m with you on not refusing cookies, brownies, Twix, or mac ‘n cheese! As for the glasses, if you still want some, they make some without any prescription. So it’s the best of both worlds for you :)
I would say a lot of people don’t know that English is not my first spoken language.
Aww thanks Larissa!! I’ve given up on the glasses thing (now I realize how much of an inconvenience they are!) And that’s so cool- what’s your first language?
I can’t believe I”m just now seeing this response *facepalm* But in case you’re still interested, my first spoken language was Creole. English was my first written language.
What a lovely post, hope you’ll spend a wonderful b-day weekend xxx
Oh and I’m 100% with you on the bed thing! Hate it when the bed isn’t tidy
Thanks girl! And YAY I’m glad to hear I’m not crazy. ;) I feel like the first step to a picked up room is having a made bed.
Happy birthday!! I am so with you on the fresh brownies and donuts! Never say no! I laughed out loud on the black coffee one! Where did you even come up with that? I’m sure you get some fun responses! Happy Friday!!
Thank you Mary! <3 I think I picked it up from my dad who jokes about his lack of chest hair sometimes haha. And the fact that black coffee is so strong that it makes your hair grow faster?? I have no idea hahaha!
Stop it, once upon a time I wanted to be a “famous singer” when I grew up too!
Happy birthday!
Hahaha I feel like every little girl goes through that stage! I had big dreams, that’s for sure! And thanks so much Krysten!
I used to love Cracker Barrel when I was a kid! I haven’t been to one in years!
Girl you need to go back! It’s still such an amazing restaurant. I am a huge sucker for breakfast food, though! haha
That’s great that you are focused on bigger and better things despite life’s difficulties. God is good and helps us through the rough times. I know I had a rough 25 to 27 for it’s own reasons and God was the only reason I could make it through.
So so true! And I’m glad to hear that you got through it. He is the only reason I’ll make through all of this okay. :)
Happy Birthday to you!! I loved reading all of these. Number 14 is totally me too.. LOL
Thank you Taylor! <3 And yeesss! Glad you're a fellow pizza lover!
Happy Birthday! I love Anne of Green Gables — I am looking forward to the new Netflix series.
Thank you so much! And I KNOW. I hope the series is as good as the movies they made. Those are my favorite!
