HEY THERE!
We’ve got some exciting news to share with you…
In July 2020 we will be adding a new little blessing to our family!
It still feels so surreal that our family is growing. Welcoming James into the world totally changed it, and I can’t wait to see how much sweeter (and yes, busier and harder) life gets once our new little one is here. For the meantime, I’m soaking in these last months with just us and James, while looking forward to being a family of 4.
I am officially at the end of the first trimester and praising Jesus it’s here. I’ve had a much more difficult time with this pregnancy than with James’s simply because I’ve been feeling so sick and fatigued. Thankfully those hard days are few and far between now, and I’m already enjoying the second trimester energy I’ve been feeling recently. Now the goal is to get through the next two trimesters patiently!
Last night we had our first appointment with our midwife and it was so special. She was there the first time we heard James’s heartbeat, and I loved that she was there again this time too. I cried (of course) and thanked the Lord that the baby is growing and everything looks great so far! Then we celebrated with my favorite Pie Five pizza, to keep up with the tradition I started with James of getting a pizza at the end of every trimester. Baby gets what baby wants, right? ;)
And just like with James, I’ve decided to do bumpdates every 4 weeks for this baby so, 1. I can remember and look back on them in the future, and 2. You can stay up to date on the pregnancy and be praying for our little bundle of joy with us. I love sharing the miracle of pregnancy and birth, and hope it brings you some joy as well!
How far along?
13 weeks tomorrow! I still can’t believe we’re already a trimester down.
How big is Baby H?
The baby is about 3 inches long and weighs around 0.8 ounces – the size of a Tamagochi pet!
Must-have items
I’m still LOVING my pregnancy pillow from my first pregnancy. On the nights when I’m restless and tossing and turning it really helps me relax and sleep. I took Unisom and B6 to help with the nausea, and some days it was the only way I could get some relief from feeling sick.
Cravings
Nothing really… I’ve mostly had food aversions that change daily. I didn’t want coffee for about 4 weeks, couldn’t stand the sight (or thought) of leftovers, gagged when I chewed gum, and Mexican food was not appetizing at all. Most of the aversions are gone now, thank goodness!
Symptoms
Nausea, extreme fatigue, bloating, forgetfulness… basically your usual first trimester/pregnancy stuff haha!
Exercise
I’m still doing Bar Method and loving it! I am so proud of myself for being consistent even when I wasn’t feeling well, and was able to do around 4 classes a week the entire first trimester. I plan on keeping that up along with some walking/mild cardio the rest of the pregnancy!
High moment of the week
Hearing the baby’s heartbeat for the first time and realizing that this really is real life. I have never taken this pregnancy as a given (and really struggled with fear and uncertainty at the beginning), so getting to finally hear that our little one is alive and growing… It was priceless.
