HEY THERE!
Wow I can’t believe we are almost halfway through the year. Where did the months go? I feel like it was just yesterday that we were ringing in the new year. Now here we are, in the middle of June, and I still haven’t really processed that my first year of school is over. Isaac and I have been married for almost a year (WHAT?!), my sister just graduated from high school, and my baby sister is about to start 6th grade. Moments like this make me feel so old.
One of the things I’ve learned over the past few years is how important it is to just stop and breathe. We live in a culture that is so focused on what’s next, be it the next meal, the next day or the next year, that we forget about how crucial it is to be in the present. We spend too much time planning ahead than we do enjoying where we are right now. And then, before we know it, the “next” is “now”, and we find ourselves blogging about how fast time is flying by.
So I decided to take a break from what I normally blog about to write about what’s going on right now. I want to take a few moments to think about everything that’s happened these past few months, where we are in life, and what God’s doing through it. I also encourage you to stop and enjoy the present.
Well I’m currently teaching summer school and loving it! I get to teach math and reading in Spanish, and I’m working with my partner teacher… we have so much fun together. When I’m not at summer school, I’m working on the blog, painting for my Etsy shop, Colors on Canvas (hint, hint… keep an eye out for a giveaway from my shop on Friday), or catching up on all the reading I wish I could have done during the school year. I’m enjoying the half days of work, and have taken a nap almost every afternoon (#summerlife). I’m looking forward to next year with my kids, but secretly wish the summer would slow down so I could enjoy it even more!
Isaac is enjoying his summer too! After a tough couple of semesters, he deserves this nice break from school. He should be graduating from college next May (YAY!), so he’s starting to look around for possible internships for next spring. Isaac is still working part-time as a mechanical engineering research assistant, and he loves it. In his free time, he’s been listening to tons of audiobooks, reading and eating chips and salsa. He’s been an excellent husband, and I love watching him glorify God through our marriage.
Since life wouldn’t be complete without Lillie, she gets her own section too. Lillie is as hyper as always! She loves playing with her stuffed moose (thanks Uncle Matt and Aunt Brittany!), is awesome at playing hide-and-seek, and still refuses to “shake”. Her favorite place to visit is the dog park, and her best friend is Paisley. She does awesome on car rides, and is a bundle of joy to Isaac and me. Lillie is currently battling her 6th ear infection (since November), so the vet loves her too. ;) She is almost 17 months old and we love her to death.
Even though the whole point of this was to focus on the here and now, I also wanted to share some of the exciting things coming up for us in the next few months.
This coming weekend we are moving to a new apartment… Literally the one right below us. Talk about an easy move, and I’m already dreaming about the wood floors and updated appliances we’ll have.
For our anniversary we are making a quick trip to Florida for a few days and we’re bringing Lillie. I’m so excited for her! She’s going to love the sand and ocean. And it’s going to be our first time to try out Airbnb. Wish us luck!
Then at the end of July, we are going to Romania on a mission trip with our church! This will be the furthest distance either of us has travelled, so I’m nervous, but ready to see how God uses it for His glory. We’ll be gone for 9 days, and will be working with local churches, a pregnancy center and at a pastor’s retreat in the mountains. Please keep us in your prayers as we prepare for this amazing opportunity!
If you were to describes your life right now in one word, what would it be?

I love your puppy Lillie! I have two Goldens, Daisy and Millie. I don’t know what I would do without them! Enjoy your summer! I’m trying to do the same, even though I always get excited for the next school year!
Goldens are definitely my favorite dog now. I don’t think I could have another kind! And thank you Hilary! I hope you enjoy your summer too :)

Aww thank you Greta!!
Eating chips and salsa is a good thing to do in one’s free time! :) Hope you guys have an awesome anniversary trip! We’ve used Airbnb lots of times and have always loved it!
Awesome! We’re excited to try it out and it was WAY cheaper than anything else we could find. And Isaac completely agrees with you on the chips and salsa!
How amazing! So excited for your trip to Romania and can’t wait to hear about it. You’re going to have a blast in Florida-all three of you!
