HEY THERE!
Over Spring Break, my two best friends from college and I headed down to Fredericksburg, Texas for a girls weekend. We had so much fun together, and it was the perfect way to catch up, make memories and laugh our stress away. While on the trip, I decided to create a “What To Do” guide for Fredericksburg using the places and stores we went to and things we did there. I also included some places I’ve been to before, as well as things I want to do there someday. Fredericksburg has a little bit of everything for everyone, and it’s definitely a town I can visit time and time again.
Woerner Warehouse & Catering (website)
The girls and I went here our first night in Fredericksburg and we fell in love! The restaurant serves some of the tastiest pizza I’ve ever had, and we loved their yummy pizza creations and toppings. The restaurant is in a furniture store, which makes it such a unique venue, and I loved the industrial look of it. This is definitely a restaurant you don’t want to miss out on.
Sunset Grill (website)
This is actually the sister restaurant of Woerner Warehouse. I haven’t been there, but I’ve heard only great things about it! It comes highly recommended by one of my coworkers, and specializes in all things brunch. Their breakfast and lunch menus have me drooling!
The Peach Tree (website)
If you love brunch, cafes and cute little restaurants, then this is the place for you! We had lunch there after shopping along Main Street all morning, and it was the perfect place to relax, watch the rain fall, and munch on some delicious food. They also have a little gift shop that you can walk through while waiting for your table. And y’all… their salad with house dressing is amazing! That, paired with quiche, had us happy and full all afternoon!
Mamacita’s (website)
This is one of the restaurants I’ve been to with my family on previous trips to Fredericksburg. My uncle loves all things Mexican, so naturally Mamacita’s is his favorite place to take us. They have a fun atmosphere, and some delicious tex-mex food!
Wildseed Farms (website)
I remembered coming here with my family many times before, and really enjoying looking at all the flowers around the place. On our girls trip, we had a blast taking pictures in the bluebonnets, browsing the gift shop, and checking out all the gorgeous plants they had for sale. So pretty, y’all!
Enchanted Rock State Park
This is still one of the things on my to-do list, but I’ve heard of so many people who have raved about hiking up Enchanted Rock! To avoid the crowds, try to get there early and go during the week or on an off day/weekend.
Pedernales State Park
I wrote about visiting this park last year (read about it here), and I can’t wait to go back again someday! It’s not that far from Fredericksburg, and a gorgeous place to go on a hike or camping. It just doesn’t get any better than a hike in the hill country.
Walk down Main Street
There are so many shops and restaurants to visit on Main Street! Below I’ve listed some of my favorites.
Fredericksburg Trades Day (website)
This is one of my favorite things about Fredericksburg! I have never been to such an amazing trades day before. They have barn after barn full of vendors, selling some of the most beautiful pieces of art, cute clothes, furniture, and everything in between. It’s set up the weekend of every 3rd Saturday of the month!
Museums
There are some really cool museums in Fredericksburg you can visit as well! I’ve actually never been to one, but I know next time I do I’ll definitely have to check them out. Some of the museums you can visit are Museum of the Pacific War, Vereins Kirche Museum and the Pioneer Museum.
Fischer & Weiser (website)
I don’t know about you, but I love stores that offer samples. Free salsa? Yes please. Oh peanut butter & honey spread? Don’t mind if I do. Homemade jam? You had me at berries. If you’re anything like me, you’ll love Fischer & Weiser. After sampling their sauces, salsas, jams and honey, I left with three different products. It’s seriously amazing.
Dogologie (website)
If you own a dog, then you will love this store as much as I do. They have everything from dog themed hats (Isaac wouldn’t let me get him a golden retriever hat #bummer), to leashes & collars, and everything in between. Pets are allowed in the store, and it’s definitely a fun place to visit, especially if you are missing your puppy like I was!
Der Kuchen Laden (website)
This store is in an old hospital, and has every single cooking utensil you can imagine. My family loves going here when we visit Fredericksburg. We love walking around the store looking at all the kitchen supplies, checking out their little coffee shop, and trying the samples they occasionally have set out. My favorite part is looking at all the different colored Kitchen Aid mixers!
Native Boutique (website)
I am a sucker for cute t-shirts, and this store had SO many. I loved that they had so many Texas themed shirts, and I may or may not have left with a yellow rose of Texas shirt that I’ve wanted for years. They also had some super cute dresses, tunics and outfits… I could have spent SO much money there!
Dooley’s (website)
Dooley’s is another go-to for my family, and we can spend over an hour in here looking at all the stuff they have. My mom loves this store, and it’s a great place to find things like Armadillo Milk (gag gift!), cheap toys and stocking stuffers, and weird clothing items. It’s a great place, y’all!
Popcorn Emporium (website)
I always try to stop by the Popcorn Emporium when I’m in Fredericksburg, because their popcorn is seriously delicious. They have so many flavors, and it’s cool to see them make the popcorn in the store. And y’all… the smell wafting down the street is so enticing!
Other boutiques and shops
There are SO many boutiques, antique shops, furniture stores, and restaurants all along Main Street. We spent hours walking up and down the street, checking out all the stores, and trying not to spend all our money. ; )
