HEY THERE!
I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but tassels are IN right now! And I can totally see why… They are super cute, scream “summer” and are so fun to wear. I love shopping for jewelry, and finding pieces I absolutely love, but when it came to tassel jewelry I decided to do something a little different. One of my favorite things to do when I have some free time is craft, and I thought this would be the perfect DIY to try! And turns out it was. ;)
When browing Pinterest for inspiration, I realized that here are so many different types of tassel earrings out there. From suede and leather strips to beaded and embroidery floss. So I decided to try out two different style, and I’m sharing those tutorials with you today!
Before we get to the tutorials, though, I wanna talk a little about the struggles I went through to buy the materials I needed. I first went to Michaels (simply because I had a gift card #whatwhat!), and spent probably an hour there trying to find what I would need for the earrings. It was a nightmare. I don’t know if it’s because the one I went to just didn’t have a lot of variety, or because I was new to jewelry making (or maybe a combo of both?), but it was hard to find what I was looking for.
Thankfully I found most of what I needed at Michales, except for some end caps for the suede earrings and the hoops for the hoop ones. You know… pretty important items for those types of earrings! So off to Hobby Lobby I went, and it was like night and day.
First off, Hobby Lobby is like my second home. I love that store! I can navigate it with ease, and I felt like their selection was SO much better than the previous store. Second off, they had a lot more gold pieces (which is all I wear), so I didn’t feel so restricted in what I was able to buy. And third off, it was all on sale, so score! I am so glad I was able to find everything I needed, because you better believe the minute I got home I pulled out my newly purchased supplies and got to work.
(You can buy all the things you need online, too!)
Through this experience of making my very first set of earrings (besides the super duper cool ones I used to make as a kid… You know the ones I’m talking about!), I learned a few things:
1. Jewelry making is so much fun and rewarding!
2. It’s not near as hard as it looks… most of the time
3. It’s actually quite relaxing
4. I can’t wait to make more. It’s seriously SO much fun!
I can’t wait for you to try making your own jewelry as well!! If you decide to do so, snap a picture of your creations and tag me on Instagram. I’d love to see your creativity shine.
*So I tried something a little different for today’s post and made video tutorials for the earrings- eeep! I know they’re not perfect, but tell me what you think. Should I keep the videos? Or should I stick to just pictures? ;) Aaaand… should I do some recipe posts like this too?*
Now it’s your turn to talk! Answer one of these questions in the comments below:
What did you think about the videos?
Which earring was your favorite?
Will you try making your own jewelry now?

Having videos for DIYs is actually easier to follow than just pictures!!! The scrolling “what you need” list was a little quick for my slow brain, but you are just the cutest and I loved both videos!!!! What a trendy, cute idea, Becca!
Love these all. Im always looking for little diys like this. ❤
Those are SO CUTE!! I love the tassel look. Everyone can pull them off and there are so many different ways it can be done. You are simply beautiful in every one of these photos. Great video too!! Love, love, love! Happy summer ;)
This is a great tutorial and I love the videos. It can be so cost effective to make them, especially if Michael’s or Hobby Lobby is having a sale.
This is such a fun and totally doable tutorial! I pinned – can’t wait to make!
How cute! Very Eddie Sedgwick!

Those are so cute!!
I am obsessed with tassels! These are so cute! I really need to make some!
These are so adorable and easy! Would make a super fun girls’ night project.
Oh my gosh, these are darling! I need to go to the store right now. Hobby Lobby here I come! ;) I though the videos were fun. I would have liked the part where you list the materials to run a bit slower since I couldn’t read them without pausing the video, but overall it was great!
Oh my goodness, I love this post! I’d never thought of a DIY way to style tassel earrings, and I think these would make a really sweet gift.
